Tianyu Gloria Grand Hotel — Hotel in Xi'an

I chose this hotel because it is very close to the main railway station, NOTE, not the high speed station. It is a nice comfortable hotel with a friendly staff who speak English. The room was really nice. The hotel also organised an excellent driver to take me to see the Terracotta Warriors, who drove me to the high speed railway station after my visit. ||||The hotel is also located close to the metro system, which is pretty easy to use and can take you to all the interesting places in town. ||If I were to stay in Xi'an again I would probably try and find a place close to the Bell Tower. I chose this hotel because it was my first time in China and I was taking the night train from Beijing and wanted a hotel within close walking distance to the station. We only staid two short days during our 12 days China tour guided with Jet Tour and this hotel was for sure the most decent one we had with a spacious luxury lobby and a various open buffet breakfast with a wide choice of meals Chinese as well as occidental ones even the young Chinese waitress unfortunately threw coffee on my jacket early in the morning : she was not attentive neither she spoke English and was so confused but as everywhere in China hotel staff don't speak a word in English to my great surprise. We were lucky enough to get a wonderful and helpful Chinese guide to translate for us anything we needed and when I went alone up to the business centre again the Chinese secretary could not help me to get my emails explaining the Chinese net was not working at the moment. The hotel is located across the road from a shopping center with Walmart, KFC and other food outlets.||Large comfy rooms, clean, very little English spoken by the staff including the reception staff. Everything takes so long, changing Sterling into Yuan, each serial number on each English note had to be written down and accounted for.||Food her is not great, limited variety. We decided to have the evening buffet and informed the staff that I was vegetarian and would there be enough choice for me, I was told it was ok. Paid my £15 and all I could eat was the fruit salad, even the other salad had meat in it.
