This is one of the best and most value-for-money hostels I have stayed at in my travel life. The pods / capsules were clean and comfortable, with a curtain for privacy, personal charger port, light switch, little hook and shelve for your personal items, a locker in the room etc. Towel was included which was nice and should always be the case but unfortunately isn't for a lot of hostels nowadays ("renting" a towel is a silly thing in my opinion, maybe in a couple of years a pillow or mattress is also no longer included for free). There were a lot of toilets (with seat covers + seat cleaners) and showers (with good water pressure and temperature control), it was clean and quiet in the sleeping areas, and if you want to be social there is a big lobby area (including bar) with lots of places to sit and chill, or to enjoy your food, drink and meet people or just be by yourself. Location is also good, close to the Bell Tower and a metro station with tour desk where you can book a direct tourist bus to the Army of Terracotta Warriors.
The only downside is that it was very difficult to find without a map, I had the address written down in English and Chinese and knew it was close to the metro station but I still had to walk and look around for 30 min and ask random people on the street before I discovered it was in a nondescript building and you have to take an elevator up, a little bit more directions or a sign with the English name outside of the building would...
Read moreThis hostel should get an Oscar for the best hostel in the world. Everything was so good, amazing and well.I could not find words how awesome it was.The location is great, the vibe is great. And the people and staff are friendly and helpful. Loved it.They provide you a towel. Toilet and shower rooms were neat and clean. There is soap, shampoo, hand wash, washing machines, water dispenser and other basic amenities. For the readers, the bus stop is right below the hotel which takes you to terracotta museum. Look for the people in red jacket. Then they will walk you to bus which is parked nearby. I think it costs 30 each way. Bus takes about 40 mins. The staff speak English well.I arrived a bit early (8 A.M) but they don't allow the early check-in.The lovely staff allowed me to use the toilet and take shower. So the only thing I could not do is go into the room, that's it, but I was able to use the toilet and shower room. So I left for the terracotta museum and checked in after returning. That was more than enough for me.Overall I would highly recommend anyone to stay in this hostel. They have branches in other places also across China.I'm angry with Desti because of not having branch in Beijing 😂 But never mind I hope they open in future.Ending note: this is a gold standard for hostel. Highly...
Read moreHi Hostellers, I would like to share my wonderful 4 days stay in Desti Youth Xi’an Bell Tower. I’ve travelled around the world and have stayed many hostels but Xi’an Bell Tower exceeds not only my expectations but also is far better than others. First, you are greeted with very enthusiastic reception and was taken to my room by one of the staff who carried my luggage and explained everything I needed to know. IYou would not expect this type of service in hostels. The room, bunk bed, washroom and shower was clean and nice. The mattress was comfortable and I slept well. You will walk into a spacious lounge behind the reception with plenty sitting areas, pool table, huge dinning room table and bar with well stocked beers and cocktails. I enjoyed sitting in the lounge drinking beer or planning my next trips. The location of this hostel is perfect since it is right next to the Xi’an Bell Tower and the subway station. You can walk to the Muslim Quarter in 5 minutes. Finally, the best part of the staying was the outstanding service from the staffs. They are so helpful and willing to give you the best support possible. Special thanks to Jeffrey, Cindy and the rest of the team. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone to visit...
