Stylish and well-designed boutique stay in Luoyang
HeSu Hidden Art Hotel & Suites offers a stylish and well-executed experience that pleasantly exceeded my expectations. While it’s a relatively small hotel, it carries itself with confidence and charm, making clever use of design and space throughout.
The entrance already hints at what’s to come—bold and modern with sculptural elements, textured walls, and playful contrasts. A striking red artwork greets you near the ramp, adding a contemporary edge without feeling forced. This aesthetic flows consistently through the corridors and rooms, where the décor is sleek, thoughtfully curated, and tastefully modern.
My room was not large, but extremely well laid out, with everything one could reasonably need. The bed was spacious and very comfortable, and the overall atmosphere felt clean, cosy and efficient. The bathroom stood out with its excellent rain shower, ample counter space, and the added luxury of a Japanese-style bidet toilet—something typically found in more upscale properties and a rare treat in a hotel of this category. There was even a pull-out clothes line discreetly installed inside the shower—such a simple but genuinely helpful touch, especially for travellers on longer journeys.
Cleanliness throughout the stay was impeccable, and I had the impression that real care had been taken in both design and maintenance. The corridor carpet, ambient lighting and touches of greenery added to the boutique feel without ever seeming overdone.
Breakfast is served à la carte. While the offering is fairly limited—particularly for vegetarians—the dish I chose was well-prepared and presented with care. It was just enough to start the day, though I’d have appreciated a bit more variety. That said, the inclusion of proper chocolate milk (a surprising rarity even in some five-star hotels) and a genuinely excellent espresso were both very welcome touches.
Staff were friendly and helpful, with a warm and polite attitude throughout. However, English was not widely spoken, which may present a challenge for some guests. I strongly recommend having a translation app at hand—it certainly made interactions smoother and more comfortable.
In sum, HeSu Hidden Art Hotel & Suites delivers far more than one might expect from a three-star-plus property. With its appealing design, spotless presentation and some thoughtful surprises, it offers very good value and a memorable, well-rounded experience. I’d...
Read moreOverall the hotel stay was very enjoyable and very foreign tourist friendly. The service especially was excellent from all staff members, though we only caught the names of Xian Xian and Xiao Ya. They all had sufficient to proficient english-speaking skills, and we were able to communicate effectively with translation apps anyway. All staff members were extremely friendly as well as extremely willing to help accomodate our requests. Xian Xian for example was happy to organise and book our tickets to see a local cultural show, as we were unable to navigate the booking system alone. Cleaners as well were extremely friendly and helpful-one kind man who was cleaning the laundry room on 30/12 helped me operate one of the dryers. The hotel provides several excellent amenities, including a fairly large laundry room, free coffee vouchers and excellent coffee, free tea and water bottles, a nice bar/bistro, and other complimentary gifts. It has a good location, close to a large shopping mall with good restaurants, and the city wall and other tourist spots. The rooms themselves were modern, clean and comfortable, though with a couple of issues. One of our initial rooms was street facing and extremely noisy, with very minimal soundproofing. However, the staff were able to move us to a different courtyard facing room the next day when we let them know. Hopefully they are able to improve on the soundproofing in these rooms further, otherwise guests and especially noise sensitive guests should request rooms not facing the street or wear earplugs, which the hotel provides. Another issue with our new room was that despite it being a non-smoking room, a strong bothersome smell of smoke entered the room through bathroom vents, perhaps through the neighbour’s room. However, we did not alert the staff to the smell, as the smell was able to be contained to if we kept the bathroom door closed. Perhaps if we had asked, they would have changed our room again or fixed the issue with the neighbours. Overall we were very pleased with the stay as the service, despite...
Read moreWe started the stay with a little hickup. The electricity went down on the whole block the hotel was on. It’s down for several hours and we couldn’t check in. The staff was helpful and accommodating. We arrived at the hotel around 2 pm but didn’t get checked in before 6 pm. So we took a walk to the nearest mall that was a 15 mins walk from the hotel. The hotel room was very small and cramped for 4 people. The queen beds were small, about 1,5m in width. The layout of the room was also kinda awkward. The shower and toilet were in separate rooms, which is fine. But the sink was not connected to the toilet and was in the hallway. Taking a shower meant that if you laid in bed you could see when someone came out of the shower because the sink and mirror was in the hallway. The room did not have e refrigerator, which was strange. Never experienced that before in any of the other hotels. So you couldn’t store drinks or food in the room and have it chilled. They had a good reception area with alot of seating and a good bar. They had free tea, water and popcorn in the reception area. They also had a playpit for children. The hotel was fine overall. Weird design of the room we booked and very small room. But they did have bigger rooms. When you are 4 or more, go for the...
