There were a few hotels listed in booking.com that offered airport shuttle service. When I called and checked with those hotels, most only airport shuttle service started at 8am. Finally I settled with Xiamen Discovery Hotel as it offers free airport shuttle to and from airport as early as 6am.||||Our stay in Xiamen Discovery turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. ||Two professional bell boys at the airport holding our family name plaque greeted us at the arrival hall. The hotel is only 5 minutes away from airport. It is very new, according to the bell boys, It started operation on 25 April 2014. Discovery Hotel chain is from Taiwan and Xiamen is their 1st China branch hotel. No wonder everything in the hotel and rooms were spotless new and clean. ||||We had an Executive suite so that our two children can sleep in the living area. The 50msq room was able to fit in 1queen, one extra bed and a 3+2 sofa comfortably. Bathroom was huge with a shower room and huge bathtub, spotless clean. ||||We dined in its trademark Creative Taiwanese Dinning Restaurant. There are only VIP rooms in this restaurants. Guest were shown to respective VIP rooms according to the number of person in their group. It's really fine dinning experience with delicious dishes. ||||Our breakfast were sent to room at 5am as we need to leave early to catch our early flight. As promised by the hotel, the airport shuttle sent us to the airport around 6 am. ||||I would say this Taiwanese managed hotel is top notch (ichiban) customer service in all areas. ||||Highly recommended for airport transit and working trip in the software park area e.g. Lenovo company. This hotel is in a new development area, the nearest mall for shopping and dinning Tesco,is RMB 10 by taxi...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel because I was in transit from living in China to moving back to Canada. I was 3 nights in a VIP room and their service for pick up from my former living quarters, and transport to the airport, which is a 5-10 minute drive was excellent.||This is a Chinese hotel trying to be Western with a ways to go! The decor is clean and nice and the rooms are great. The service with Housekeeping and the Front Desk lack in communicating skills, but they try very hard to please.||The breakfast buffet is very Chinese with decent coffee, but one must look for the real thing. The staff go out of their way to please and I was thankful for a lady chef named "Yvonne" from Taiwan that made dishes especially for me. She spoke good enough English to communicate and I give them an A+ for effort. From what I could see their Chinese buffet was good if you like Chinese. They don't have labels on their food other than Chinese, so it's difficult to know what you're eating without lifting every lid on every item.||I asked for a pot of coffee to come to my room as I was checking out very early and knew that their dining room was not open early enough to serve, and they failed to bring it as requested. I was not pleased when I left due to this, but looking back the stay was not that bad.||The part that is lacking for this hotel for most people would be their location in regard to sightseeing in Xiamen, visiting cultural areas, restaurants or shopping. The main plus is the fact that it is so close to the airport and their shuttle service. The City is changing their airport for International flights in the near future which will make it difficult for travellers that stay in this hotel as they will lose their biggest asset which is the...
Read moreMy first time stayed at Xiamen Discovery Hotel where I found it is value for money. I went for business trip so I preferred the hotel to be nearby the airport to avoid the traffic jam in the city. It is only about 15 minutes drive from airport Terminal 3. The hotel check in service was very efficient and I felt much relief after the flight delayed for almost 2 hours from original schedule. The room size is reasonable for business hotel room where the round bath tub occupies half of the bathroom. The internet WiFi speed was a bit slow. However, the breakfast variety and choices are the credits of the hotel particularly you can have choice of ground coffee. An unusual experience was I could not open the hotel room door when I wanted to enter the room to take my luggage for checking out. The electronic lock was run out of battery that I needed the service man to open with mechanical key. It took 10 minutes to get it done. As a whole, I consider I will stay here again next...
