The hotel is old & not well maintained. Staff overall not professional… forget about going there if you don’t speak mandarin, not the same standard as the brand in Thailand. Broken terrace, broken balcony, pretty dangerous tbh. Some of the public area is broken & slippery or disfunction. The showeroom of the spa where I went to were not clean, there were random hairs on the floor…. The manger Mr. Mi who’s originally from Xinjiang, is not thrust worthy & not professional at all. I was not feeling well due to the massage I had the day before and wanted to extend one more night, not only he sent me a random QR code of which doesn’t lead to the right reservation link but also he intimated me into tears while I was sick unwell laying down. First of all it’s not pro to add me from his personal WeChat account…i thought it’s from the reservation team but turned out to be his personal WeChat. After the wrong QR code sent, I told him clearly that I would need 30 min nap before going to the reception to deal with the stay extension, since I’ve been feeling unwell. Not only they woke me up by calling me after 10 mins but Mr. MI personally attacked me of « being princess sick » while I was sick & being intimated into tears. I was travelling solo by then my family left earlier from the hotel, as female I don’t feel safe facing someone like this aggressive. When I requested to talk to his supervisor he said he’s the boss here while I know there’s actually a GM. He said his GM is in Chongqing another city not here and he kept saying that if it was abroad, my luggage would be threw out of the door, it was 3:30pm, meanwhile I’ve already asked for late check out which is granted in the morning, and one more night extension, with deposite already lodged days ago. My friend left some expensive tea at the reception for me, Mr. Mi asked in WeChat if he shall send it to my room while « non disturb » has always been on and I made it clear that I don’t feel comfortable, just because I didn’t reply right away, he deleted the WeChat stopped me from giving instructions. By the time I checked out, not only he didn’t give me the tea but lied to the travel agent that he brought it to me but it was me refused to take it… If it was not with the help of the travel agent, I might would have need the police’s assistance to leave the room tbh. The travel agent had to cancel this extension but moved me to another hotel. If someone like Mr.Mi represent the image of this thai hospitality group, I would say just...
Read moreWithout doubt, the worst 5 star resort I have ever stayed in. The food is terrible (we had hair on one occasion) Breakfast served stale rolls and bread, under ripe fruit and was not monitored/controlled so people were picking things up with hands and couching and sneezing on everything. I appreciate the hotel can't control people couching etc, but especially in the midst of a pandemic - make people wear masks. Tables not cleared away and fruit juice was watered down. ||||Very noisy air-conditioning units around the sight which you can hear across the complex. The areas around one of the the pools isn't cleaned with cigarette butts on the floors and empty nut shells there for pretty much our whole stay. The sun beds are broken with the cushions all frayed and splitting apart. I really have no idea how a 5 star resort can have these out for people, I'm really not exaggerating. Other hotel guests were using drones flying around the pool and our hotel room windows. No comment from staff of the resort asking them to stop until we asked.||||Our room had issues with electric blinds breaking on 3 occasions amongst other issues. Basically the kind of things you would not expect having paid 220 USD per night. ||||Overall, I would avoid this hotel. Not worth the money at all. A massive disappointment to us considering we have stayed in other Anantara hotels/resorts but this was a truly awful experience for a 5 star resort. In fact, on our last day we found another hotel just down the road which was much cheaper and in the same location - to stay there would...
Read moreTo start with the positive things:|The hotel is basically a subtropical garden. Very green and the gardens are more or less maintained. The rooms are nice, spacious and clean, the stuffing ok. |It’s mainly quiet, but they use some carts or trolleys for housekeeping which make awful noise when rumbling over the property lanes.|On the negative side, those trolleys make you child waking up from midday nap even when doors and windows closed.|Like in most Chinese 5 star hotels they offer the cheapest instant coffee in the minibar. The service in the restaurant is quite slow, sometimes they forget something but the prices are moderate.|We fancied to enjoy sunny days and clean air but don’t make a mistake, it’s very smoggy in Xishuangbanna, most of the time 10 till 15 times the WHO limits for smog. (Heard from a botanical garden guide that when the rainy season starts it will not be that smoggy anymore.) So, sun protection is not that highly required, the sun does not get through and the moon is deep red on the night sky.|On the pools they offer worn out or broken deckchairs, old or no mattresses and just a few towels, if they are taken or you need one more you need to hunt for staff in order to get some.|The hotel changed the upgrade policy before and during our stay so it was confusing for us and they did not let us upgrade even though some options have been available on their...
