We (a family of 4 with 2 kids) really enjoyed our stay at the very comfortable Zansuwan Hotel. Visiting Leizhou on an adoptive homeland trip, we were booked into the hotel by the authority organising our travel arrangements. While we were initially concerned by the cost associated with the apparent luxury, the rooms turned out to be under AUD$100 per night each and we soaked up the experience - literally. One of the hotel's internal outdoor courtyards has a 25m swimming pool and about 10 hot spring pools at various temperatures with a selection of additives, including milk! A great way to end long days in a '3rd tier' city that does not offer much to the average tourist - although the new Stone Dog museum was great. The other courtyard has a fully replicated Leizhou farm house compound set in a rice paddy, replete with geese, which can be booked as well. The restaurant was like a mini food court for lunch and evening meals. The only problems a Western traveller may experience is a total absence of anyone who can speak English and a fully Chinese breakfast - hence the 4/5 rating from...
