I had booked this hotel with a bit of trepidation due to the distance from the main city centre but guess what, it’s only a S$2 ride (DiDi) away and the drivers are practically everywhere so each waiting time was less than a few minutes. In other words, distance no problem!!! When using Didi, enter the location as “Lirui Hotel”.||The vibes and decor connect with me here. The themes of red and black resonate throughout the property. Designs and decor are funky, energetic, cheery - a slightly toned down version of W hotel.||Rooms are beautifully and comprehensively appointed, for a four star hotel (no swimming pool, no spa, no room service). Like many other reviewers, I love the Dyson hairdryers!! (It inspires me to get one back home haha). The drinks in the fridge are free and refilled daily. ||The restaurant is only opened for breakfast. The breakfast offers quite a diverse spread, and again I’m impressed, again. However, due to the design of the restaurant, it gets congested during peak hour, so be warned. If you come early, there are some really lovely seats with superb views! My other problem with this breakfast, is that the offerings are virtually the same everyday. And I get bored easily… so first day I ate the noodle soup, second day I ate the western stuff and porridge, third day I ate a different western stuff (pasta), fourth day bread toast (they have coconut jam! WOW)….||If you need something extra, there’s McDonald’s and Starbucks downstairs. Oh, there is also a row of street carts - we had a yummy “severely banged-up lemon drink” from one of those!!||The gym is small but functional. Located on the same 31st floor as the reception and restaurant, I like the cable machine and free weights. There’s a workout bench, and a few cardio machines. No TV. Towels and bottled water are available. Views are lovely!!||Many reviewers have commented on a lack of English proficiency of the receptionist(s). I’m afraid it’s true. So if you can’t speak mandarin, oops…. ||So, in conclusion, here’s five stars for|- the vibes|- the views|- the comfort|- the breakfast |- the location (yes, it’s somewhat off but I like the quiet and ease of...

Read moreJust like another review have mentioned, the Hotel is just not ready for full on service. Yes, the tapes still on the hotel elevators, the actual sign is taped to the wall in one parking level, upside down on the floor on another. The location and the view is great. Service is spotty, a bit more about that later. Beds a bit hard, pillows are soft and plush. But some details still need attention. The feeling is like the place haven't gone through QC or final inspection. Fittings in the baths and showers are crooked. You might find some paint on the light switches, and it seems they don't routinely clean the rooms unless someone have stayed in them. My room was very dusty. Like weeks without anyone cleaning the dust off the dyson. The breakfast is great. The dimsum actually taste restaurant quality and not something frozen, so are the noodles and wontons. The omelets and pancakes are great, probably the best pancakes I've had in a long time. Worst part of the stay, the front desk staff, specifically the tall lady. something that would have taken less than 1 minutes to do, opening up the system, type in my plates while i was there in front of her, verify that the cars actually in the lot, confirm everything is good, and say have a nice day you have 15 mins to leave the parking lot. i ended up wasting about 20 mins trying to get out of the lot. I cant believe she snaps at me to write my plates down more clearly, haha what is this 2nd grade handwriting class? Wouldn't it have been easier if you wrote it down yourself as i read them to you? Anyways, they need to hire people who are actually interested in hospitality and not just some person looking for a job. Or they need some type of management to train the staff. The staff there seems to be either sleepy or just annoyed...
