Finca Hotel El Descanso del Duque — Hotel in AMCO, Area Metropolitana Centro Occidente

The hotel is a beautifullly remodelled coffee ‘finca’ surrounded by lush gardens and green hills. The area and how the hotel is situated is simply stunning. Guests can relax on their own patios / terraces or in their hammocks and will enjoy looking at all the spectacular birds flying by or the horses in the neighboring meadow. The rooms are spacious and very clean and have new / great bathrooms; rooms are not very luxurious but they are comfortable. There is pretty good Wifi. This is more a B & B type of hotel with great, personal care by very attentive and super friendly staff. We had a fantastic breakfast every morning, and several other great meals (lunches and dinner) and were always offered a great fruit juice. When we got back from a hike in the Valle de Cocora, our muddy shoes were immediately taken care off and cleaned by the hotel staff. The owner of the hotel arranged for a guide / driver who was super friendly, knowledgeable and service oriented and took us to main attractions in the area. The only small downside was that most attractions (like a working coffee farm, Salento, Valle de Cocora, Termales de Santa Rosa) were at least 45 mins away by car. What a beautiful property! Surrounded by green lush faunae, birds chirping and exotic flowers. Such a relaxing place to stay. We did visit surrounding towns but one day just spent it enjoying the property. Petting and feeding horses, pictures with calves and walking the avocado fields. At night a bonfire was made for us with a marshmallow roast. The staff was incredibly accommodating. Anything we desired was brought to us! The rooms spacious and great water pressure in the showers. De gerestaureerde typisch traditionele Colombiaanse Villa uit 1880 ligt in een groene, rustige omgeving tussen de avocado en koffieplantage in. Het is makkelijk te bereiken met het openbaarvervoer of taxi vanuit het stadje Pereira wat omringd is door hoge bergen genaamd de Nevados (besneeuwde bergen).||||Wij werden zeer warm verwelkomt met verse fruitsapjes van het huis. Geserveerd door de altijd vriendelijke gastvrouw, zij, die dag en nacht, voor ons klaarstond.||||De eigenaar is tevens net zo enthousiast betrokken met ons als de gastvrouw. Hij laat een film zien over bijzondere vogels die Colombia als eerste bewoonde en geeft de tip om de volgende dag naar het niet ver gelegen, hoog in de bergen gesettelde Salento te gaan. In dit toeristische dorpje wat aan een geweldig mooie natuurpark ligt zullen wij met eigen ogen, nog onbekende, dieren en de hoogste Palmbomen van de wereld bewonderen.||||Naast de comfortabele, pico bello schone tevens luxe kamers heeft deze Villa verschillende huiselijke plekjes waar men zich kan terugtrekken of juist samen kan genieten van een drankje, rust en de mooie omgeving.||Echter het grootste pluspunt van dit huiselijke hotelverblijf is toch wel het heerlijke en gezonde eten. Elke dag werden we opnieuw verrast door inspirerende energie wekkende maaltijden die we in ons eigen keuken, bij terugkomst, zullen proberen na te maken.||En natuurlijk mag de smaakvolle koffie uit eigenstreek niet overgeslagen worden.
