We were looking for a place not to far from medellin to spend a day or two. Our hostel owner in Medellin told us there is a hostel in Alejandria that is really good. We couldn't find Alejandria in the lonely planet but after some research on the internet we were sure we had to give it a try. ||The hostel is one of the best hostels we ever visited! Diego and his dad are running the place and help you out with everything you need! Alejandria is a beautiful little city with really friendly people. There is nota big amount of tourist coming in so people are still interested in who you are and where you come from. They give you tips and advices over where to go. In town theres a relaxt naturel pool where you can swimm, a bit further away there are hotspring and beautiful waterfalls. The place is good for hiking, but you can also explore the area by tubing down the river. ||After an active day you can have a cool swimm in the river just outside the hostel. ||The hostel itselve has a relaxt area where you can watch tv or play with the pooltable. And last but not least they have Riley, the sweetest dog we've ever met. She walked with us for days and was the perfect tourguide! ||Don't think about going, just go! you will enjoy every second...

We really enjoyed the days spent tubing down the river, relaxing in the hammock, riding horses, and exploring the town, all thanks to the generosity of our hosts at the hostel. If you're looking for some time away from the city, this is really...
Read moreHighly recommend The Golden Elephant to all travellers. You will be lodged surrounded by nature, able to enjoy the tranquility of a tiny Colombian village and have a great time with the hostel staff. Prefect base: quiet paradise, though near to a lot of action. Hikes, cycling... visiting one of he many fincas, Guatapé and so on. Loved the fact that the village people dry their coffee beans in the main plaza! Good kitchen, comfortable beds, hot shower and perfect WiFi connection....
