HOBBIT HOTEL ECOLODGE — Hotel in Antioquia

We were very excited to stay at the hobbit hotel. Overall, this place is amazing and we would highly recommend it. Below are some notes to consider before booking.

Pros- Breakfast is included and it was soooooo very good each morning. The owners make it fresh and hot each morning! It feels like a bed and breakfast.

The tranquility you will experience is second to none. You can literally unwind with breathtaking views of the mountains and lakes. You can walk down to the lakes as well. We didn’t get in, but we heard the owners have a kayak you can take down.

Probably one of the most unique and well thought out properties I’ve stayed in.

There is a grill outside of each room that is free to use.

The hosts have local contacts for transportation. Use them. Cheaper and reliable.

Getting to this location without a car can be very pricey using taxi/moto. This can greatly increase the overall costs to your trip.

There is one restaurant within walking distance and it’s pretty steep uphill. That being said, the views and the food were incredible. Prices were very affordable.

The food, snacks, alcohol that is sold is marked up. Bring your own to keep things more on a budget.

Though the rooms have a natural cooling element since they are built into the side of the mountain, a fan inside the room would have been nice.

The room we stayed in needed a bit of TLC to take care of the musty somewhat smell. Shower didn’t drain well.

Excellent place, impressive attention, very unique style. The overall decorations are made of second hand products that create a sustainable place and give a unique and creative style to every single object in the hotel. The rooms are amazing, comfortable and keep a perfect temperature all day no matter the external weather. I will recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy a very unique experience in a lovely place created by a dedicated couple that makes things with a lot of passion.

If you came here by your own car or rented car, pay attention to the road that is not that good in the last part of the road, so you should drive really slow to avoid any damages.

Finally, if you visit this place during hot summers or long summers you could encounter the lake area completely dry, so if you are looking for water activities, those will be unavailable, so take this...

My visit here was a beautiful experience where me and my partner could relax and be in awe of the amazing artistic feat that is the hobbit and container rooms. Our hosts were always so attentive and informative making us feel so welcome and exchanging pleasant conversation. They also helped arrange a driver to get us from the town to the hotel and back. At the bottom of the hill is a serene lake that you can swim in in absolute peace.
