Having stayed at the ecolodge twice for extended periods of time, I have seen Ritmo del Rio built from the bottom up, and the thought, hard work, ingenuity, and passion everyone there has put into every step is evident in the the experience you get there. I can honestly say that after much traveling in Colombia and other parts of Central and South America, Ritmo del Rio is unmatched in location and in the quality of the rooms/facilities. Three hours outside of Medellín and about an hour past Guatapé, the nature surrounding the ecolodge is its biggest asset. Bordered by a river and surrounded by rainforest, there are endless opportunities for hiking, fishing, biking, and observing jungle creatures such as tropical birds and monkeys. Combined with the excellent food, expertly prepared and much of it organic and local sourced from the agroforestry surrounding the complex, my girlfriend and I found ourselves in the middle of the rainforest living better than we do at home. Any musicians staying at the ecolodge will immediately find themselves at home, as the owners are very much musicophiles and there is a lot of talent between them. I'm looking forward to...
Read morePure magic. Ritmo del Rio is the most beautiful place I've ever been. Set in the middle of the jungle and rainforest, the ecolodge is surrounded by natural beauty. There's an organic garden/farm where they grow organic produce and then cook for you incredible meals. I've never tasted fresher tropical fruit and they were very accommodating to my gluten allergy. It took just a couple hours on the bus from Guatape and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Jesse took us on gorgeous hike through the rainforest and we climbed waterfalls. There are baby monkeys (yes, monkeys!) in the trees and purple butterflies flying around the hotel. The grounds are so well kept, with lush gardens everywhere you look. The cabin accommodations are perfect and includes everything you need for a magical adventure in Colombia. If you have the opportunity to go, go! To top it all off, the owners are super accommodating and laid back–they'll kick back and hang or play music for you. They'll probably make you want to move in :) I'll definitely be going back. This...
Read moreI really felt in love with this beautiful place on earth! This eco-lodge in Colombia, located in San Rafael near the touristic town of Guatape (60min from Medellin) is really worth a visit (to be honest I almost liked it more than the crowded Guatape and Penol-area). Placed in the middle of the jungle beside a crystalline river you can enjoy waterfalls, do some bird watching, hiking and mountain biking tours around the area (for example ride to the famous waterfalls of San Carlos). Run by a Colombian German American team, who built the eco-lodge, the atmosphere is absolutely pleasant. We stayed in one of the cabins (all built with natural material). They were spacious, clean and offered privacy and a nice river-view. In the evenings, we enjoyed dishes prepared with organic food they produce on their own permaculture-farm while listening to live music. Afterwards we used to have some drinks on the bar. To put it in a nutshell: If you are looking for a quiet but comfortable place to stay, it´s recommendable to go to this beautiful eco-lodge...
