Our family visited Colombia and the Lake Tota area over Christmas and New Year's this December. The highlight of our stay was the nights we spent at Entre Isla Lodge on the Peninsula de Daito, high on a hillside overlooking this majestic lake. |The Lodge is the imagination and inspiration of people with impeccable taste and design, who want you to see the magic of this exceptional area---no expense has been spared! The rooms have large paned glass from floor to ceiling, looking over the water and distant farmlands. The people are very friendly and attend to every need. I was walking with a cane and when Alejandra noticed I needed help, she rushed over to take my arm and lead me down the path, making sure I was safe and confident. Everyone was exceptionally kind, thoughtful and helpful!|The breakfast meal was a gem, a delight, and came with the room: eggs, waffles or French toast, American coffee, juices and bowls of fruit. Dinner, too, offered a range of choices by a very gifted chef. |We were fortunate to be staying at Entre Isla Lodge on New Year's Eve and were treated to a wonderful evening of food, music and prizes.|The highlight of our stay, which often I find is the case, was moments we had not planned for, that simply emerged in the course of New Year's Day. With our college-age daughter we found ourselves seated quietly in the Lodge's gorgeous chapel overlooking pines and the distant lake. As we sat quietly together a conversation emerged about our lives, our faith, our hopes for the coming year. It was the kind of moment parents long for, hope for with adult children.
