We had seen this big new hotel in the center of Arcabuco and decided to check it out, hoping to relax, as the hotel's website invited us to do.|| Upon arrival, we were met by a female employee who spent a long time scrutinizing my passport, flipping through the pages and making multiple copies, acting serious, as if there were some problem, saying she needed to report to immigration. There was no problem, my papers were in perfect order. She evidently missed her calling and should be working for immigration, not at a hotel reception desk! She also questioned my Colombian traveling companion's document number, there was no problem there either. It made for one very unfriendly reception! We have stayed in multiple places in the area and this has never occurred before, it was completely unnecessary and unpleasant on her part.||We were charged the total amount immediately upon arrival--a half million COP for 2 nights-- this is not a normal practice in our experience. This is also a very steep price for Arcabuco! She did not even give us a receipt for our cash payment, and we were not even offered a tinto upon arrival, there was not a bottle of water in the room, a candy on the pillow, nothing at all as a token gift at this high price. We were not told of any local activities, and were given nothing at all in the way of information. After having charged us in full, there was no interest shown at all by this staff member, who barely even said good-bye when we left. ||The hotel has no common areas to speak of, no amenities, you just have what is in your room. Although it is very large and it was a holiday weekend, we saw just one other guest during our stay; the place was nearly empty. ||We realized as soon as we arrived that the noise level made relaxing and enjoying the space day and night impossible, the pollution was so bad the balconies were unusable. Extremely heavy, noisy traffic passed constantly. There is a bar nearby with loud music and partying until 2 AM, when the police came in with mini siren blasts to clear the crowd. This hotel is at the epicenter of the action in this town, if you have any sensibility to noise, do not be fooled that they are "soundproof" as described!|| On the plus side, there are beautiful views of the mountains, there was plentiful hot water to fill the small bathtub, and the bed was comfortable. ||I suggest retraining the reception staff member to focus on being cordial to arriving guests, no matter where they are from. The staff member who served breakfast was extremely friendly and welcoming---a pleasure to be with---perhaps the woman at the reception desk can...
