Hotel y Restaurante La Cúspide — Hotel in Calima

Compared to everywhere else in Colombia I have stayed, this has been the most underwhelming experience. It was more expensive than elsewhere and the least comfortable, even than hostels half the price. Thin sheets, poor quality mattress.

The first (newer) room I was shown had blood stains on the wall behind the pillows, as if someone with a nosebleed had sneezed on it. I then had the option of a windowless room. I had to ask for a towel and there was no soap or hot water. I asked FOUR times for it to be turned on and was assured each time it would now work. It never did.

Although the staff were polite and pleasant, the manager did not apologise once for any of these things, or offer me any kind of concession.

The restaurant food is mediocre to average and quite expensive.

The gardens and pool are nice enough and the view of the lake is pretty good.

Lake Calima is a reservoir and not particularly beautiful, although the environs are attractive enough, especially the forest up the hills behind it. But I don't think it is worth going out of your way for to stay there, unless you are interested in watersports. The drive round the lake is interesting enough, so if you have time and are happy to spend an extra hour driving round the lake,...

Let me start off with saying the cúspide is for families, water sports enthusiasts, couples and just about anyone who likes to have fun! The hotel depicts an hacienda style hotel, but don’t be fooled the rooms are cleaned impeccably and the service is phenomenal. During our stay we had the most dilectable meals from their on staff reknowned chef. The owners of the hotel are very hands on, so no matter what your stay will feel like your with family. I honestly believe I will be traveling to Lago Calima...
