I absolutely loved Media Luna. We initially booked for 3 nights and stayed for 10 in total in the end. |The gardens are gorgeous and lush and the bungalows are some of the nicest rooms I have stayed in in Colombia with gorgeous soft sheets and comfortable beds. They are really big too, and have really well thought out design. They all have mosquito nets and great fans - no need for AC as it is cool enough in the evening with the cleverly designed airy rooms. They are very well maintained and contemporary. The private separate toilet and shower were great too. The room was cleaned every day and lovely towels and soap were included. The bungalow for two people was 70,000 a night - half the price of place on the beach.|Other facilities - they have comfortable hammocks across the property, free water, you can use the kitchen to cook dinner and the fridge to store breakfast and lunch foods (you can't cook breakfast and lunch though as they offer these and the kitchen is in use). Overall the whole hostel as very clean and well maintained. |They have friendly cute pets - 2 dogs, 4 cats and a tortoise. Juan Carlos the owner also owns two horses that you can ride if you are experienced enough to take them out on your own. |Juan Carlos was a great host and provide excellent advice on all sorts of things including walks in Palomino and the best way to visit Tayrona and Calo de la Vela too.|Yes it is further from the beach, but I liked being closer to the main street to get to the shops etc. The walks into the mountains are gorgeous from here too. To the beach is 20-30 mins depending on how leisurely you walk, or a moto is 3,000. I liked the walk and it was nice to pick up coffee, cakes or fruit on the way in the morning. |The main thing the hostel is missing is wifi and I highly recommend they invest in this.|Overall, it was a really calm, comfortable and relaxing base to call home, and you shouldn't let the location put you off - the gems are always off the...
ย ย ย Read moreIf you're looking for a party scene then shack up next to the sand. If you value your sleep then this is a great option (you can always catch a moto). It's a family-run place and they value the lovely general environment they've created. And rightly so. ||There is a lovely inside/outside vibe with the rooms. The bathroom next to the dorm has a particularly nice view of the local plant life. All beds have nets and likelihood is you'll need them. There are also ceiling fans. However, these are electric operated and we did experience a power cut during one of the (very hot) days. There is even a smattering of friendly animals for you to pet!||The only thing I would not recommend is the breakfast which is small and over-priced. It is not well advertised that this is cooked in the guest kitchen - a place that you can make use of yourself and is well stocked with some basics. Do yourself a favour and pick up a few bits from the local...
ย ย ย Read moreWe loved staying here for our time in Palomino and couldn't rate it more. The rooms were so comfortable and beautifully designed. Breakfast was good and the pool was lovely. So quiet. Nice to stay a bit out of town and enjoy the sounds of nature. But what topped it off was the welcoming nature of Juan Carlos and Yaskibel. When we first arrived my husband was really ill and they looked after him really well. Juan Carlos became like a friend and had great info on visiting local places and took the time to help us make plans, especially good tips for tayrona to help avoid the crowds. When we came back after our overnight in tayrona it felt like returning home. Thank you so much Juan Carlos and Yaskibel for your hospitality. If ever we retien to Palomino we will...
