Hotel Ecológico La Cachaza — Hotel in La Dorada

Set deep inside a tropical area on the Miel River some 10 miles or so from La Dorada, this place is absolutely amazing. You arrive to a parking spot after a rough drive on a dirt road that requires a vehicle with good clearance. A boat picks you up for a 5 minute ride up the Miel River to La Cachaca Hotel. These are large tropical bamboo bungalows with hammocks and netted beds. We arrived at night and went over to the common area for dinner. The food was simple fare from the region but very good. We hung out in the hammocks and enjoyed the amazing sounds of night. I slept like a baby in good, firm beds. The next day we stayed until 4pm swimming in the river. What a great time. We visited the La Miel river during our recent motorcycle expedition thru Colombia and the La Cachaza was our stop for the night. Access to the hotel is by water taxi which was fun ride. The mosquito net is a must! You will not survive the night without plenty of bug spray before dinner which is served in an open air kitchen/seating area. Very nice hotel. Cabins are very rustic but they have everything you need. Beds are good and sleeping with the mosquito mesh is very comfortable.||Food is OK, though it could improve.||The place and surroundings are beautiful.
