My boyfriend and I spent two nights in Tayrona. Our first night was In the popular Cabo San Juan and our second and most unforgettable night was spend at Playa Brava Teyumakke. ||The trek took us about 3 hours from Cabo and you walk through beautiful scenery to then arrive at a quiet beach. ||The beauty of the experience and place is that is is very basic and there were only a handful of other guests. In the evening we went to eat at the main house of the property and made friends with the hosts and the few others that had made it to Playa Brava. The options for food were simple but lovely.||The day we arrived it was my birthday and my boyfriend had emailed the property to ask if they could get me a birthday cake and surprise me. Despite the distance required to get a cake, they got one (I believe they bought it up by horse from the nearest town). It was an incredible evening.||The host was spectacular and gave us some history of Tayrona and her experiences. ||As mentioned before the accomodation is basic and beautiful. You stay in huts on the beach with no electricity at night meaning you can relax, talk and just watch the stars. This was perfect for us. If you are looking for an adventure and an escape to nature this if for you. ||Tips: take a torch and lots of...
Read moreI stayed in a family hut. The huts are spacy, they're a great place to relax. Along with the huts come a private sun deck and beach chairs. The hotel forgets to tell the budget travellers staying in hammocks that these are private. I had to tell two couples that it comes with my accomodation. The second couple actually put my e-reader and water bottle into the sand and took the beach chair. Very strange. Also check-out is at 10.30 (even though Booking.com says 11.00), but they already removed the hammocks and beach chairs from my bungalow by 8.30! They apologized when I mentioned at checkout, but I find it strange. I would've liked to chill for an hour in the hammock after breakfast. The cleaning staff then waited in front of my bungalow since 9.30, I felt unwanted in the place. Basically this place needs to up their game in hospitality and communication. Also not very 2025 to not provide the option for card payment. They have WiFi so they should also be able to provide card payment. Maybe the WiFi is not reliable for card payment all the time, but even if I have the cash on me, I prefer to with card so I have enough money on me when I need it the most. Photo added of the bungalow with the hammocks removed and beach chairs...
Read moreWhat an amazing place to get cut off the world - no phone, no internet, no electricity in the huts - just... amazing nature, tranquility, very friendly people, extremely good food. But be prepared - this luxury is not easy to get. It needs a quite exhausting 3 - 4 hours walk up and downhill through the hot and humid rainforest from the entrance in Calabazo to get there. Take only the minimum of luggage you need and leave the rest at a hostel or else. What you definitely need: Torches Batteries for your camera Moskitospray A good book Enough (!) cash - no cards or else work. You can get cash in Calabazo at the kiosk directly next to the entrance (at the counter, no ATM).
What you should know: Expecting a nice place for swimming in the caribean sea you might be disappointed to see after arrival that the waves and currents are way to dangerous for. Nonetheless there is a very nice waterfall to be reached within 30 min hike to have a cooling bath. And it is spectacular as well by the way...
What stays in mind: exhausting ways have the most...
