A beautiful spot in amongst the forest in Tayrona National Park. Recommend staying here if you want a local camping experience. There’s all sorts of birds (chickens, pheasants, roosters, ducks, etc.) running around which are very entertaining to watch. Feels more like a homestay with a lovely family who are super friendly. We stayed in hammocks which were really comfortable, you can request mosquito nets if you’d like. The food they prepare is also delicious (warning - massive portion sizes!). I would highly recommend doing the tour of the local Indigenous Kougi village (their neighbours). If, like us, you don’t speak Spanish, Karen can join and translate (Thankyou Karen!). A 1.5 hr walk to Playa Brava and a slightly closer walk to Boca de Saco (which in my opinion is the best beach along the coast). You can keep walking along the coast to the other beaches (Cabo San Juan, la piscina, arenilla, arrecife, Cañaveral), all the way to the main entrance to the park in El Zaino. The closest entrance to La Cima is the Calabazo entrance in Tayrona NP. It’s about a 45 min walk but be warned it’s quite hilly and you will sweat. Option to also take a motorcycle for a small fee. You will need to pay a fee to enter the park at the entrance as well as a small road maintenance fee....
Read moreWhat a place! We stayed there for 3 nights, and felt like we were gradually becoming a part of the family! We were staying directly at the mirador, which is pretty awesome although you have to climb up and down for cooking / toilets / etc. Be ready to compromise on your comfort: water is not always running, there is no electricity, cooking is on a wood fire. But this is part of the fun! Karen also makes great dishes (tried dinner and breakfast, both...
