Hotel San Basilio de Palenque — Hotel in Mahates

If you have a group trip and want some level of privacy I recommend this hotel! Off the beaten path somewhere between Cartagena and Palenque, this Hotel was a treat as a stop on the Palenque Tour. We had a delicious breakfast (several options so if you choose American fare it’s available). Horseback riding, the most loveable black Labrador retriever and birds are there for your access. The parrot talks and says some “interesting” things. He’s free but his wings are clipped. The pool is nice but I chose to look at all of the AMAZING ART all over the property. My family and I stayed in this beautiful hotel for a weekend away from the city and it was wonderful. The rooms are nice and clean , the staff friendly and hospitable. The hotel is perfect to escape the busy city and be in contact with the natural environment and relax. Clean rooms, kind people, restaurant on site. The place has a petting zoo for kids and seems like it's set up for birthday parties, etc. It's way out in the country, so you can expect all the typical country things.
