Hacienda Venecia Manizales Hostel — Hotel in Manizales

Nice experience and escape from the city. Stayed in hostel dorm of 8beds but only 3 of us sleeping there. Hostel has kitchen if basics plus a few pasta and produce related items for purchase. Better to bring what you like to cook. Buying a pizza making kit there also good option. From Manizales bus terminal take any local bus in front to Estacion Uribe and then a blue saying San Peregrino which can pass every 30 mins to 2 hours depending the time of day. Or from Centro Manizales there is the same bus beginning at parroquia los agustino at a produce store. Give yourself 2 hours to reach the recepcion due to wait times for bus. You call recepcion to pick you up at restaurante Las Palmas. Give yourself 2-3 hours from dorm to a bus departure at main terminal. Public transit involves lots of patience. Otherwise hiking around the finca is pleasant. Be ready to swat territorial dogs if you get off...

We had a fabulous stay at the Hacienda Vanecia Hostel. The hostel hosts, Gilbert and Jessica, made us feel very welcome and did everything to make sure we were enjoying our stay. We loved our little bungalow, the hammocks for lounging, the outdoor kitchen, and the relaxing atmosphere of being surrounded by nature. The birds that flew around the property were especially fascinating. We added on breakfast each morning and Jessica was an excellent cook. The tiny tienda was reasonably priced and provided essentials to cook for yourself (we had some beers as well as made pizza, pasta, and sausages) We also took the coffee farm tour with Johann and he was a super friendly, knowledgeable guide. We are traveling Colombia by campervan and we stayed 2 nights but could have easily stayed 4 to truly experience the nirvana. Coffee tour was exceptional and available in English and Spanish. Hummingbird and bird watching from several seating areas & hammocks at the hostel was incredible. Identified 14 new-to-me bird species. Hot showers and super clean bathrooms!
