We arrived in Mocoa late at night after traveling from ipiales and were taken to casa del rio by a taxi driver who insisted this was the place to stay. When we arrived the owner greeted us and I asked her how much the dorms were per night. She said 25,000 per person including breakfast. We agreed to stay and she showed us to our dorm, the first dorm had no working light and the second had lights that only operated when you touched wires together. The room was also covered in bugs. (I know, we were in the jungle) however the room looked like it could use a good sweep. The next morning we decided we would try to make it to another hostel, that was an ecotourism center and we asked the owner if she could call the center for us. First she told us that the center needed reservations in advance and then told us it was closed when we asked her to call (neither of these things were true). When we told her we would still be checking out after one night and went to pay our bill, the price for accommodation went up to 29,000. I told her in Spanish that she had told me 25,000 last night however she kept saying no, it's 29,000. We paid the 29,000 and left with a. Ad taste in our mouths because of her dishonesty. There are way better options in Mocoa. I would not recommend...

Aparently the owner changed shortly before and its supposed to not be the same anymore.|First of all, they wanted 30k, brouhght'em down to 25k. Garden site is nice but could be treated better. Rooms are dirty, spiderwebs and small, desd indects everywhere and it smelled bad (humid). Mattraces are so layed through that they have an "U"-shape. Lockers are in the main house at the entrance, which closes at 11 pm. Kitchen cannot be used by the guests, not even for cooking hot water (at least they let me wash my lunchbox). Reception lady was super unfriendly and minded that we asked a couple of questions. Wifi super small and didn't reach the room. Positive was, that the breakfast (eggs, fruitshake, coffee and two slices of bread) was included and that they have a tennis court nearby (14k per hour) with rackets and the river is in front of the door.||All in all i wouldnt suggest to go to casa del rio. Aparently, detanyacu should be nice and cheap, but...
Read moreWe were on a budget so we were staying in the hammocks outside which were 1/2 the price of the rooms. Very late in the evening and after it had gotten dark we were told that the hammock area was being used for an ayahuasca ceremony and we had to sleep in a different area far from the toilets and bathrooms. The ayahuasca ceremony included a female participant who was in incredible distress and screamed like her son was being murdered for over an hour. There was no possibility of sleeping with this (aside from it freaking us out) and eventually another traveler who had a room said we could use it and we were able to sleep with the screams slightly dulled. The next morning the hostel insisted on charging us for the room rate even though a) they had given us no warning of the ceremony that would happen and b) there was no possible way anybody could sleep with that screaming.||I have also heard of other incidents of travelers being overcharged for a...
