Hotel Hacienda El Salitre — Hotel in Paipa

"You get what you pay for", words we have all heard at least once in our lives, right? I hope my review will prove just how true those words are.||My husband and I arrived in this magical place, still upset over the horrible experience we had just escaped from in a different hotel in the same town. So bad was our experience there, we needed something special to wash away that bad memory, so we chose Hacienda El Salitre in hopes to achieve just that. Quite literally, we took a breath of fresh air as we arrived in this absolutely magnificent countryside hotel in the outskirts of town, where smiling pages met us at the car to welcome us. "We have been expecting you, we're here to make your experience at Hacienda El Salitre a wonderful one". We both looked at each other and breathed a sigh of relief in amazement over the immense difference aready. From the breath-taking view and location to the warm welcoming, we knew we had chosen well. ||We had arrived hours early and were prepared to have to wait until check-in, but to our pleasant surprise, the accommodating front desk staff happily checked us in 5 hours early. Whoah, three for three, we thought! ||We were ushered to our room, and judging by the apologetic agent on the phone who had taken our reservation the night before, we were expecting an unimpressive room, the last one, we were told, in a fully booked hotel. However, what we found was a  perfectly decorated, welcoming, rustic but otherwise gorgeous room promising a wonderful stay. We couldn't wait to plunge into the thermal pool just outside our room, so we changed into our swimsuits and gladly used the bathrobe and swimcap we found neatly folded on the bed. A couple of cocktails and yummy appetizers ordered poolside, and we were all set for a lovely afternoon. The grounds themselves are magnificent, as this hotel is now were a once luxurious Spanish colonial home provided safe heaven to freedom fighter Simon Bolivar prior to the colossal battle known to have sealed Colombia's independence from the Spanish crown. So, enjoying our time at the pool amidst all the beauty, grandeur and tranquality was not difficult to achieve. ||Every moment thereafter was part of a long chain of beautiful memories we will cherish for ever. From the beauty and peace this place offers, to the impeccable service, excellent food and helpful staff, our stay at this incredible hotel will always be at the top of our list. So, we saved a couple of dollars at the previous place, but the experience was terrible, while at Hacienda El Salitre, we were happy to splurge a bit to get an excellent value for our money, proof that you get what you pay for. We highly recommend this hotel and everything that you can experience while there. You will be glad to splurge too....

This hotel was recommended to me by a family member. My first impression of the hotel is that it was beautiful; the magnificent eucalyptus tree and the building were astonishing. We were traveling with 7-month-old babies (twins) and I have to say it was difficult to move around with the stroller (we knew ahead of time that the hotel wasn’t so stroller friendly, so we were prepared with carriers). The hotel has some history which is interesting to learn. The employees will gladly tell you about how Simon Bolivar stayed here a few days between the battle of Pantano de Vargas and the Battle of Boyaca to strategize and rest. It was incredible to be able to spend a night in such a historical place. With history come old buildings; although the hotel is old, I found that the building was well maintained (unlike many of the pictures shown). I would have liked for the bathroom to be just a bit more updated, but the room was clean. We were not able to use the pool as we were staying for only one night and the pool is cleaned on Mondays and Thursdays. The food during breakfast was just okay. The service was...

Ubicado en un edificio histórico colonial a sólo 5 minutos en coche del lago Sochagota, el Hotel Hacienda del Salitre ofrece elegantes habitaciones con conexión inalámbrica a internet gratuita. Cuenta con un bonito jardín con un pozo y una piscina de agua termal.

Elegantemente decorado con tapices y mantas tradicionales de lana, las habitaciones del Hacienda del Salitre cuentan con balcón privado y TV de plasma. El mismo Simón Bolívar se alojó en una de ellas.

Todos los días se sirve un desayuno americano con fruta y panes de la zona. El Mesón del Encomendero ofrece platos regionales e internacionales. La taberna El Rincón sirve bebidas.

Los huéspedes pueden relajarse en el pintoresco patio o en las tumbonas de la piscina. También podrán utilizar las instalaciones de sauna o reservar una relajante sesión de masaje. Otra opción es alquilar bicicletas para explorar los alrededores.

El Hotel Hacienda del Salitre se encuentra a 15 minutos en coche del monumento de "Los Lanceros" y a 35 minutos en coche del parque Guatica.
