We had a wonderful stay at the guesthouse Tatuane/Mundo Amazónico with Leo, Elizabeth, and their dogs. Leo and Elizabeth, both locals, possess a wealth of knowledge about the area. Elizabeth works extensively with indigenous communities, while Leo, a local Tikuna, studied environmentalism and has an intimate understanding of the flora, fauna, and nature of the region. Leo also shared invaluable insights into Tikuna culture, language, and traditions. As hosts, they were exceptional, and Leo's extensive experience as a guide made our tours with him incredibly informative and engaging. I highly recommend doing tours and activities with him to gain a deeper understanding of the area.
The accommodations were great, situated right on the edge of the jungle. From the hammocks, we spotted two kinds of monkeys, hummingbirds, frogs, and butterflies daily. The room was very clean and comfortable, with everything we needed for a good night's sleep, including mosquito nets for protection. There are plenty of areas to relax and enjoy the tranquility, with only the sounds of nature around. The location is ideal—just a 10-minute walk from the town center, near the hospital and a public water dispenser. The guesthouse also has an open kitchen for guests, and they always provide cold drinking water. We loved Elizabeth's delicious food and the fresh organic fruit they grow themselves, especially the papaya, which was the best I've ever had.
Overall, it was an amazing experience that made our time in Puerto Nariño very special. We highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking for a genuine Amazon experience with hosts who truly care about...
Read moreThis is the first review I've written after our Colombia trip and that I choose this one to write about speaks volumes. A super stay with Leo and Elizabeth in their wonderful home, perfectly positioned on the edge of the jungle with only a short walk back into town. They provided both excellent hospitality at home (clean rooms, great food and juices, open kitchen etc) and super tours informed by Leo's vast knowledge. All well priced.
Planning our trip to the Amazon region was the hardest part of our preparations. Should we do a tour? Where should we base ourselves if not? A jungle lodge? In town and take day trips? Hostal Tatuane feels like we got the best of all of them.
Leo speaks Spanish and although i don't very well at all, he has a real gift of making himself understood whatever your level.
I can't recommend this place highly enough and wish them...
Read moreOur stay at Mundo Amazónico was great! Leo and Elizabeth were wonderful hosts, attentive and caring. We don’t speak fluent Spanish and they did their best to communicate patiently with us nonetheless.
One evening we all gathered over dinner, swapping stories and learning about each other’s cultures, which made the stay feel even more personal and enriching. The location was perfect— it’s a 10 minute walk from the port, just on the edge of the jungle, where we were treated to daily visits from wildlife. We spotted a mother monkey with her babies swinging through the trees, and the tranquil sound of frogs at night immerses you in nature.
If you’re looking for an authentic Amazon experience with hosts who go above and beyond, this is an ideal place to begin...
