The Hacienda is a bit off the beaten track and it takes some time to get there, but it is worth the trip. The area is really extremely beautiful. From the Hacienda you have a breathtaking view on the scenery, the river and the surrounding hills. The best view you have from the pool, you could just sit there for hours and enjoy - this is the main reason to come here for me. And of course it is very quiet and you will have time to relax and unwind.||||The Hacienda has a large farm so you can have long walks within the property including a very nice waterfall- I highly recommend to do this walk. You can also do a river tour in a canoe and there are many excursions available like Cocora Valley, a must! If you like nature and beautiful scenery you will enjoy it.||||The Hacienda is built in an open plan, the main area consists of a dining area, two beautiful sitting areas and the pool with the stunning view. There are five rooms, built in a Spanish colonial style, they are spacious and gave a lot of space for your belongings. I recommend the room Ceiba with the best views. Please note they do not provide slippers. I liked their green approach, they only change towels if you require.||||The manager Floris, son of the owner is a extremely friendly and nice person, he is really a great host. Juan s also very nice and also fluent in English. ||||The food is ok. Some dishes are very good, in particular the fresh fruit platter is excellent. Also the curry was very good. Unfortunately some dishes were overcooked like the rice and the fish. I would not call it Michelin star food, but still good food. Please note that breakfast is generally included but includes only a limited number of items. If you want granola with yoghurt and fruit, you need to pay for the granola (I don't care to pay extra, but it felt just a bit strange).||||If you love great scenery and want to unwind in a calm environment, this is the place to go. I can highly...
Read moreThis is my favorite hotel in the whole world. I had an incredibly 4 nights/5 days here and I can’t wait to be back.
When I walked in, within 5 minutes, I added an extra night and then did that again a day later.
Most importantly, Lynn and Flores are incredible and they’ve done an incredible job building a perfect guest experience. They’re fun to talk to and have great humor to go with it. They love treating their customers and don’t hand that off to staff, which is really impressive. They helped plan excursions like taking a boat to a guided waterfall hike (highly recommend) and a coffee farm tour. You can also hike through the farm and watch workers pick oranges or Avocados. They made you feel like family to the point where I wanted to help with chores out of habit.
The hotel itself is incredible. It’s 5 rooms, so it’s very quiet. I went solo, and ended up having the place to myself during the days a lot because other guests went out to sightsee. And it’s a great place to do nothing. The beds are really comfortable, which was a relief after my Medellin experience. There was a great rain shower with a view. Plenty of space in my room. There’s multiple areas to sit and get different views - I like the seats under the tree that give you a view and soundtrack of birds.
The food is great. There’s a variety and they’re happy to make anything you want based off what they have. The chefs are talented and made really great food. The desserts were a highlight.
If you’re worried about the weather, don’t. It can show rain, but you just get a short shower during the afternoon and it’s a nice relief.
If you’re visiting, try to spend time at the hotel during the day. It’s a great place to do...
Read moreI won’t repeat the glowing remarks made in previous reviews; they are all true (view, service, rooms, ambience are all incredible). This is a very special place and you should do yourself a favor and book at least 3 nights there.||||We spent 4 nights at this beautiful hacienda which happened to include December 7th, one of 2 nights of Dia de las Velitas in nearby Quimbaya. This is a spectacular display of Christmas lights which is not to be missed. We visited several towns in the “Coffee Region” and they all had fabulous displays of Christmas lights but this one in Quimbaya was numero uno.||||Prior reviews mentioned the gracious hospitality of Floris (Dutch) and Lynn (Scottish). The hacienda is now run by Floris (son of elder Floris) and his wife Alejandra (Colombian). They could not have been more helpful or gracious. They are assisted by the affable Juan. They all live on-site and one of them is always available. ||||We booked all of our travel in Colombia in a package through Amakuna (HIGHLY recommended agents in Medellin) so we don’t know how much we paid for the room but whatever it was it was worth it. We had the Ceiba Suite. All of the rooms have great views over the valley and the mountains but the Ceiba Suite probably has the best views as it is located on the corner of the building so there are views out in two directions. This is a large room and includes a sofa. ||||A prior review mentioned the road condition but we found it to be fine and shouldn’t deter anyone from staying at this...
