kavas natural connection salento — Hotel in Quindío

My boyfriend and I stayed at Kavas for a week. It was unusual for both of us to stay in one place for so long while traveling, but we couldn’t recommend it enough. Although we were initially concerned about the distance to Salento, the hike up and down quickly became our favorite part of the day. Hiking up in the rain, sunset walks down for dinner, running back for a quick shower... absolutely beautiful.

I also can't talk about our wonderful stay without mentioning Andrés, the manager. Not only was he incredibly helpful, but we genuinely looked forward to every conversation with him. Thank you again for embracing our bad Spanish and making up for it with your excellent English—you truly made us feel at home.

The concept is nice and the view is great however there are far too many problems to enjoy staying here. The room was mouldy and your clothes get wet without any possibility to dry them. The bathroom has no extractor fan so when you shower all the steam enters the room and settles on your clothes. From reception to our room was a very steep 10 minute hike, a challenge with baggage in a sometimes slippery route. Due to the remote location we had multiple issues with getting taxis. The food was sometimes good sometimes not, our chips were cold. The staff were very friendly however and nice to chat with. Mi esposo y yo viajamos a Kavas para disfrutar algunos días de nuestra luna de miel. Y estos son nuestros comentarios respecto a la experiencia:

Respecto a la ubicación: Es un excelente lugar para descansar. La ubicación es ideal si estás buscando comodidad y conexión con la naturaleza. El paisaje hacia las montañas es espectacular. Si te gusta el canto de los pájaros por las mañanas al despertar, es el lugar perfecto debido a la diversidad de aves.

Respecto a la comida: El desayuno, y los almuerzos, son absolutamente deliciosos. Les recomendamos el yogurt y el Kumis y el café que es de la región. No hay mucha diversidad ni opciones en el menú pero para nosotros eso no fue un problema.

Respecto a la atención: El personal es muy amable y atento a los detalles. Nos encantó la atención de Juan y Carolina, nos sentimos muy bien atendidos.

Finalmente queremos dejar unos comentarios que pueden ser útiles en el momento de hacer la elección.

Las cabañas están situadas sobre la falda de la montaña a una buena distancia una de la otra y también de la recepción y restaurante, por los que debes prepararte para caminar y subir por caminos de piedra. (A nosotros nos gustó esto porque queríamos privacidad)

Kavas está a próximadamente a 30 minutos en carro desde Salento y este transporte cuesta entre 50 y 63 mil COP. Es posible bajar al pueblo y regresar a Kavas caminando, el tiempo de caminata es de una hora y media por trayecto y el camino es seguro. Es importante tener en cuenta esto si tiene. Planes en Salento y otros pueblos, también si necesitan hacer compras.
