I stayed for five nights on business. I had a 'junior suite', a large room facing the front of the hotel with a balcony.||||The room was comfortable, with a comfortable bed, good air conditioning, a big desk, and a comfortable chair. Good hot water in shower.||||A lovely view off the deck.||||There were two problems.||||The biggest was weak and intermittent internet - It was not dependable, and most of the time I had to rely on using my iPhone 'hotspot' as my internet connection. There is reliable internet elsewhere (universities, government offices, etc). This was a major problem for me.||||This might not be a problem for tourists.||||The hotel needs to invest in a better system and better routers. They charge three times more than other hotels, and can afford to do this. The routers are ancient and insufficient.||||They also need to invest in sound proof windows and glass. Once again, for the price they charge, they owe it to their customers.||||This is reputedly the best hotel in the city. Keep in mind Riohacha is the second poorest city in the country, and must be judged in that context.||||Tipping the staff...
Read moreThe hotel is located right in front of the beach. There are a lot of vendors with Wayuu bags and other crafts right outside. The front desk is nice. I asked them to help me find a taxi driver a few times for several errands, including a longer trip to Maicao. They helped me and all the drivers they found me were great. One of them even came with me to the craft market to buy souvenirs. The only downside was the poor internet access in both rooms I stayed in. I requested to be switched due to the poor internet access, but I was told that was not a good reason since I could use the internet in the common areas. However, because there was construction right outside my room, they did switch me rooms. The food at the hotel was very good. Customer service at the restaurant was great. The view from the terrace is unbeatable any time of day! I...
Read moreWe stayed two nights - before and after our trip to Punta Galinas. In- and checking out is terribly slow. Rooms are nice and the showers are really great and provide excellent hot water. Unfortunatedly our last night was at the eve of the carnaval parade and until 5am in the morning the noise was horrible as windows are not double-glass and due to the construction of the hotel the sound comes everywhere. There is an excellent bar at the 10th floor where meals are served too when we visited. (The hotel keeps bags at no cost and well locked. The security guard is very alert and helpful. When we left the hotel towards Santa Marta, he wrote carefully down the number and details of the taxi and driver!!...
