Nueve Uno Hostel — Hotel in Riohacha

As most travellers, I came to Riohacha as a stopover on way to Cabo de la vela and Punta Gallina, but I ended up staying here for five nights before and after the desert trip. The owner Jose is such a helpful, humble and thoughtful person, not only did he go out of the way to care for my needs, but also always give us good reminders about the city and surroundings.

He and his brother Jesus have kept this hostel quiet, cozy and clean, internet is definitely a great advantage over many other hostels in town, as I tested out a few other hostels' wifi before deciding to stay here in the end, this will be super helpful for those who need great internet for work and travel planning.

This place is so outstanding I felt the need to leave a review before I leave! Owners are super nice and actually helped me book at another hostel when I got into town as they were booked full & they let me check in ridiculously early. The facilities are so new (couple months old) that there are a few details to finish up, but really I'm just being super picky here. Get out of bed and be on the beach in 2-3min. Pharmacy, groceries, bank(s), restaurants, all within 5min. Walk. And super clean! from the bathrooms to the shower, to the dorms! Front door has a mag lock, so unless you can rip the door off the place it is secure unlike others in town that have "locks" a child could break. Also, you can walk here from the bus terminal in...

Ayer 12/04/23 fuimos agredidos verbalmente y echados del hostal por sus propietarios (?) o trabajadores. Llegamos a las 2 pm e hicimos checkin. Nos recibió una persona bastante malgeniada y sin mucho tacto (un hostal generalmente se desmarca por su servicio al cliente y la buena onda entre viajeros). Cuando salimos del cuarto a pagar nuestra noche no había ya nadie. Salimos a almorzar y volvimos en la tarde para descansar. En el hostal la entrada es una puerta automática. A eso de las 10:00 pm decidimos ir por una cerveza y en un cartel decía que pasadas las 9pm nos comunicáramos con un número para avisar de nuestra salida. En ese número nunca nos contestaron y tras varios intentos de timbrar en la puerta para validar que nos abrieran, terminan saliendo finalmente unas dos personas totalmente descontroladas a gritarnos y a agredirnos. Uno de ellos tenía un artefacto en la mano, posiblemente un taser. La verdad es que nos asustamos mucho pues en un momento pensamos que nos iban a agredir físicamente o peor. Terminaron echándonos del hostal a gritos y de milagro pudimos entrar a nuestro cuarto y recoger nuestras maletas. Al chequear su cuenta en Instagram, vimos que solo tenían dos publicaciones desde noviembre de 2019, lo cual denota de una posible farsa. Personalmente no pienso que sea realmente un hostal. Qué desgracia haber tenido esta experiencia con mi amigo extranjero. Deja a Colombia y a Riohacha en el piso. No recomendaría nunca que se...
