I spent three nights at this restored, lovely hotel just around the corner from the big square. The rooms are intimate, small, and fair warning, if you are a very large person, you may have difficulty in the toilet. That said, it's a fabulous place, lovingly restored, and with a lovely open dining area and bar. You take the stairs up to the sauna then one more short flight up to see the entire area along with the 200 year old Spanish roof tiles. There are three hammocks, a telescope for star gazing and two benches. I wrote my fair share of articles up here.||||Salamina is a quiet, charming pueblo, and the food here is excellent, including the breakfast. ||Special kudos go to Senora Alba, whose Spanish was so crisp and precise that even this non-Spanish speaker was able to understand much of what she said. She walked me to a local massage, and even one day went out and got medicine for me for a minor sore throat. ||I was grateful for a few days' quiet, able to walk the plaza and eat such good food and buy my very first poncho for riding horses in the future right on the square. Alba was full of suggestions, there at any moment to be of service, the absolute picture and experience of someone who lives to make others happy. ||I may someday move to Colombia, and if not to Salamina, I will definitely will return, and will look forward not only to the hotel but most especially to seeing...

Jaime and Patricia, the owners are native Colombians who lived in the United States for a long time. They are bilingual. A huge help for the gringos with very limited Spanish. Loving care was give to this 130 year old house. A restoration done keeping the original charm.
They have eight rooms available, secure parking on site for motorcycles. Breakfast is included.
We were covered in mud the second time we came. Jaime arrange to have our motorcycles washed, the sole of my boot reglued, and everyone’s boots polished!
Each room has a private bathroom and on site laundry service is available. A dry sauna and a rooftop patio with hammocks await. Adult beverages at their private bar. 1.5 blocks from the plaza

The breakfast at the hotel is delicious and the staff was very helpful with a smile on their face. |The owners speak perfect English and are tourist operators and took me to the nearby towns of San Felix and Marulanda which take you back in time to colorful, charming streets. We also went to a coffee farm where they explain the coffee process and I was able to pick my own beans and have an amazing cup of coffee, finally to finish the day at the farm they made us the most amazing chicken stew made in a wood burning stove. ||This trip will be one I will always remember.
