I’m am from the United States, but my wife is Colombian and we have live in Envigado, Antioquia, for 3 and 1/2 years. This was the best hotel experience I have ever had in my life! The employees were very friendly, respectful and helpful. The service was amazing and the food options at three different restaurants was very good! There were lots of activities during the day like aerobics, dance classes, or things for children to do and at night activities like karaoke, Bingo Film night, music by DJ’s etc. This was during Semana Santa do probably lots of activities. There were many families with children and I liked the atmosphere as it was very family oriented and with even with many couples like my wife and I, 47 and 61 years old, without children. I want to bring my in laws here as they will live it! The beach kiosks were great and many times we just stayed in the hotel all day and swam or walked along the beach. A great place to get away from the obnoxious atmosphere of El Rodadero. I have never felt more welcome at any hotel more than I did at Estellar Santa Mar, nor have I had such great service. A great place to get away from it all. Breakfast was included and was delicious and lots of options. I would give it 6 stars if possible. A great place to be based to take trips to Parque Tayrona, Minca, Central Historical District, Taganga, Playa Blanca, Bahía Concha or just stay at the hotel and enjoy the activities, music and great beach area. We went to Playa Blanca and had fun and snorkeled in Taganga. Lots of places to go in the area. Thanks Estellar Santamar for a very enjoyable experience! Please share this message in an email with all of the hard working staff who made out visit a very enjoyable...
Read moreThe hotel is nicely situated away on the Beach and away from the loud streets of Santa Marta but easy enough to get to in around 20 mins cab journey.||Check in process was ridiculously long and the front reception staff were not that welcoming or informative. ||The rooms themselves let in a lot of noise and we’re not that sound proof. Trolleys were heard been moved around at all hours.||The bathrooms were really narrow but the shower was great. The beds and pillows were also nice and comfortable. Mini bar had a very basic selection and the AC was good.||Breakfast staff were lovely and the breakfast was good too.||The pool bar staff were extremely rude and as a very limited Spanish speaker they made me feel very uncomfortable and I could see them talking about me and laughing. It was not a nice experience and the service there was very slow. Also watch out for your drinks tab as we ordered some and we’re charged but never received a round.||The beach was nice and clean but the loungers were of cheap quality, we were harassed by the same beach vendors every two minutes and this is no exaggeration, the hotel should stop this as it ruins the beach experience.||||All in all this is probably a 2/3* hotel and I wouldn’t book to stay here again which is unfortunate as the...
Read moreThis hotel is old there is no if ands or buts about however the people who are running it are making a very good concerted effort in keeping up the place and having it being very good and comfortable rooms and installations. The pools are old and dated and frankly I didn't use them much but the beach is beautiful.
They've recently made changes to the menu and pricing. Food is a lot less varied now and the prices are steeper. The service has also taken a hit and isn't as good as it used to be. Before you could easily order service to the beach and now you have to hunt people down to get a beer.
This hotel used to be my go-to for a long weekend away from home and near the beach now I'm seriously considering searching for alternatives. Too bad, the beach is very nice, too bad the hotel is making changes, but not...
