My husband and I stayed here for one night so we could go to both Rio Celeste (Tenorio National Park) 1 hour away & Ricon de la Vieja - 45 min away. It blew our minds how beautiful and huge the property was! The owners have opened it now for 1 year, but they are some of the kindest people you will come across. They even went out of their way to buy us an arrangement of flowers congratulating us on our marriage since we were in Costa Rica for our honeymoon, which really made us feel special. Breakfast was outstanding and they had more food than we could eat! The pool has water from a nearby natural water source, so it doesn’t have chlorine. There is a lake in the back (there might be 2, but we could only find 1) that has Tilapia and I think he was saying a few other fishes. The property garden and paths are beautifully landscaped and fun to explore. Honestly, we were bummed we didn’t book more nights. We weren’t sure what we were going to do for dinner that night, but it ended up being that the owners also own a restaurant 4 minutes away and it was equally amazing! Only thing to consider is there is no air conditioning, but it gets colder at night and there is a standing fan.

Words can’t describe the wonderful hospitality and experience our family had at Malekus. Roger, the owner, has hand crafted and built the hotel, down to the furniture. He has such a kindness that radiates from him. My kids adored him and talked about him the rest of the two week trip, begging to return. Roger also arranged some amazing excursions for us and he and his wonderful wife cooked a phenomenal breakfast with fresh juices every morning. Thank you for hosting us!

Roger and his wife created the most beautiful and tranquil property in Aguas Claras. The hosts are so hospitable and kind, and the breakfasts are varied and fabulous (including fresh fruit, eggs, and local specialties). The views and pool are fantastic, and the location provides a great base for exploring local parks. Roger provided us with some wonderful recommendations for hikes and activities in the area. We wish we could have stayed longer!

I would rate this 100 stars if I could. It was the most amazing incredible experience.

The hosts were the kindest most thoughtful people in the world. It was obvious how hard the hosts work and how much passion they put into the Lodge. It was a pleasure being around them. They were constantly providing for us, giving us a tour of their amazing property, providing delicious, healthy, and locally grown breakfast daily (even at 5am before our flight), and leading us on a hike through breathtaking backyard jungle. Our trip through the local jungle and mountains was more expansive and beautiful than the nearby National Parks!

There were zero negative things about this location. The bedroom was perfect, the bed was amazing, the shower was amazing, the food was amazing, and it's not far from local hot springs.

We can't wait to return to Costa Rica and stay at the Malekus...
