The Jungle Gayborhood exceeded my expectations on multiple levels. I did not attend an organized retreat but booked a villa for a brief stay (4 nights). The experience was magical and with each passing day I became more connected to nature and my senses. The staff (starting with Ryan who greeted us) were all exemplary. They rattled off several options that ranged from bodywork to yoga. I opted for both and also threw in a tarot reading with Brandee that was point on and demonstrated both her knowledge of her craft and her deep intuition. A mid-visit massage with Eric took me to an even higher realm of relaxation than I thought possible. This was just what I needed after a strenuous hike to one of the 6 waterfalls on the property. (yes 6!) But perhaps the most amazing thing about the stay was just being able to hang out and get to interact with the unique community of folks who have helped create this ultra-special queer space.

The compound consists of at least 11 cabins that are open and modern with all of the amenities you'd expect from a luxury hotel. (multiple electrical outlets for charging devices and tasteful lighting with dimmers to control the environment). Calling it 'glamping' simply doesn't do it justice - it's much more than that. The living structures are iconic and eco-sensitive since they're constructed from sturdy mature bamboo and tarps. Insects are kept out, but the intoxicating sounds of the jungle flow in freely including birdsong, cicadas chirping and the morning greetings of local howler monkeys. It is like listening to an extended meditation track. The fragrant tropical flowers, butterflies, hummingbirds, and sunlight peeking through the rainforest provide incredible stimulation and scenery. The meals are simple, tasty and made with locally sourced all organic ingredients. Chef repeatedly outdid himself.

I could go on and on, but words just wouldn't be sufficient. If you're read this far, hopefully you'll take the next step of making a booking so you can experience the place for yourself. You...

Five Stars – Life-Changing Bliss in the Jungle

If you’re even thinking about booking a stay at Jungle Gayborhood, let me save you the internal debate: DO IT. This place isn’t just a getaway—it’s a full-on awakening. From the moment I set foot on the grounds, I felt my spirit being hugged by the healing energy of the jungle. (Yes, the jungle hugs you. Don’t question it. Just lean in.)

The staff? Absolute gems. Sweet, vibrant, and welcoming in a way that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a queer paradise where everyone knows your name (and your pronouns, of course). They’re a family, and by the time you leave, you’ll feel like part of it. The cabins are thoughtfully designed, blending comfort and chic jungle vibes, with views so stunning you might catch yourself saying, “I live here now,” while Googling Costa Rica real estate.

And let’s talk about the food. The chef serves up daily magic—meals so good they’ll have you questioning whether you’ve been eating wrong your whole life. Pair that with programming that’s as fun as it is soul-nourishing, and you’ve got the perfect balance of body, mind, and spirit. Dance, laugh, cry, meditate—it’s all there for you.

This is a place where you can truly let go. A safe, vibrant sanctuary of queer joy and expression, Jungle Gayborhood feeds your soul and reminds you how beautiful it is to feel free. I’m already planning my return (and drafting a group text to bring the whole queer fam next time).

Seriously, don’t overthink this one. Book it. You won’t regret a single second. Jungle Gayborhood is the kind of place you come to heal, celebrate, and dance barefoot in the rain—and you leave feeling more like you than ever...

My husband and I knew we wanted to travel abroad this year, but wanted an intentional and welcoming experience where our LGBTQIA+ status would be embraced. Enter the Jungle Gayborhood, a respite unlike anything we’ve yet to experience. The surroundings were exquisite, the food was fresh and delicious, and the amenities were exactly what we needed. That said, the people were what made the trip so special. From Shelby, to Jose, to Charlie, to chef, to the maintenance and cleaning staff and more, the team worked together to welcome us in and ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable. We attended a retreat on fearlessness and authenticity, helmed by the exquisite Pheonix with help from yogi Simon. These two are the real deal, both as facilitators and as new friends. We will fondly recall all of our memories with them and the rest of our delightful cohort. We are so grateful that we attended their retreat. There were also waterfalls and beaches and dance parties and theater night and so much more, but the only way to see how amazing this community is to make the trip. It is so very worth it. Thank you for everything, J.G.! We hope to...

The Jungle Gayborhood is an unforgettable experience that we’ll cherish forever. After two years of following it on Instagram, we were thrilled to finally make it a reality and spend our New Year’s Eve there. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Nick and shown our room. Ryan then provided us with a comprehensive overview of the place, sharing all the details. We also met Tone, Brandee, and Jess, who made us feel incredibly special and valued. As soon as we stepped onto the property, I could sense the magical and energetic vibe that this place exudes. It’s a unique atmosphere that I’ve never encountered before. Jungle Gayborhood has created this space with such intentional and deliberate details, and they’ve staffed it perfectly to deliver a heartfelt and raw experience. I’ve attended numerous gay events, but this communal queer living amidst the lush jungle of Costa Rica truly stands out as an unforgettable adventure. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their gender identity, sexuality, race, creed, or culture. I eagerly anticipate witnessing the ongoing evolution of this unique community.
