Hotel Alkamar — Hotel in Cóbano

I really liked this place. While not super luxury, it's a great spot and well-priced. Alkamar is located 2 km from the airport and next to the Budget rent a car: it's clean, friendly and well-run. In fact, I found it to be immaculate—one of the most spotless and best maintained hotels anywhere. The young man on the front desk also speaks perfect English as well and the wifi is solid too. The only challenges are the road noise, as it’s on a bend in the main road around the bay, not to mention a nearby farm rooster and various other sounds which come from the jungle at night (which are many and varied, such as dog-like sounds I’m told are monkeys – to hoots and squeals). If you locate in the second building towards the back, there’s less road noise and more jungle/rooster; and, if at the front, probably vice-versa. The in-house restaurant also does a solid breakfast and there’s another hotel across the road with a good restaurant and bar. This is an excellent starting point if you’re looking to explore the southern end of the Nicoya Peninsula. The key places such as Montezuma are about 1-2 hours away. Can't give them other then five stars. Exceed customer expectations is something this hotel do well. We arrived late, and it started a little bit on the negative side. After checking in we had a real mess with the wifi. After complaining they rebooted and everything got better. The restaurant is ok, so is also the pool. but where they really exceeded our expectations was when it came to helping us. We ran out of cash, they drove us to the atm, we had questions regarding a surfing trip, they called the company and helped us with the travel...

We stayed here one night. Althought the room was clean and big, it had NO window, the bathroom had a very strong chemical smell who would give you a headache just by walking in and... NO HOT WATER?
