My family and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. We were on vacation and stopped in Guacimo to visit friends near Earth University before heading down to Puerto Viejo. We were 2 adults and 2 kids, 12 & 16. ||This hotel is truly a hidden gem! Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff and a beautiful landscape. Although there isn't much English spoken, I felt completely comfortable communicating using basic Spanish and the iTranslate app. The property is well maintained, beautiful green spaces and flowers. ||Our room was very, very clean! AC and a balcony that overlooked the pool and jacuzzi. Our hotel room also backed to a river, the sounds of which made for a relaxing experience. The kids enjoyed the pool and we enjoyed the serenity of the tropical setting. There's also a spa offering massages.||The food!!!! There's a restaurant with a full menu. The food is amazing! They offer traditional Costa Rican and US foods. Prices are reasonable. Very clean and super great customer service. The people are just nice!!'||This hotel is not for you if you expect to be entertained or have something touristy to do. But if you want a truly relaxing experience, off the grid, where you can have piece of mind in a place that's clean, safe, warm, and welcoming, stop by and stay here. It's a great place to rest overnight on your way to and from Puerto Viejo. We loved it and will...
Read moreEn route to Puerto Viejo, reserved a room for 3 adults via an internet booking site. Received a confirmed reservation from the hotel as well.. Arrived to find they were overbooked and nothing available. WHAAAATT?? one of our party speaks Spanish so language was not the problem, simply they did not have a room. But were told to wait, we went to have a beer. Then first of all, we were told there was a room, but not made up (it was almost 6 p.m.) , then we were told, well there was a room but it had a broken mirror in the bathroom. We insisted on what had been confirmed, but were stone walled. The manager beat a hasty retreat to the back room and allowed the inexperienced receptionist to take the flak. Finally our waitress that brought us the drinks suggested another hotel and agreed to call for us !! AND she would take no tip for her efforts! Give her the manager's job!! We booked at this other place, never to return to Los Rios, and to caution all others the same. We are in Costa Rica each year and travel a lot. This is not typical of Costa Rica but do steer clear of Los...
Read moreWas recently in Guacimo for my sons graduation from Earth University. Only decent hotel in the area with A/C. ||On busy Route 32, the main highway between the port of Limon and San Jose. This means lots and lots of traffic and large semi’s all hours of the day. ||Check in was ok- no English spoken but got the key and headed to my room in the middle of a big downpour. Only to find that the room they gave me was still dirty from the last guest. Back to the front desk to google translate the situation and get a 2nd room. That room was right in the highway but I didn’t feel like complaining. Until....I was ready to leave for the night and realized the sliding door lock was broken and no way to lock the door. Hmm. ||Now a 3 rd room that was full of ants and a used piece of soap from the previous guest stuck to the shower wall. Gross ||If there was any other place to stay, I would have left after the non locking door. ||Hotel staff was nice, breakfast was better...
