I have never written a review and always find good in any situation! The place is way off the beaten path but quite unique! Nice cabins with comfy beds...the restaurant has a great menu, little pricey for what you get but overall good food. The staff were friendly even though we had trobule communicating, they were nice! John, the owner, was accomadating to us as we arrived a day early. He got us in a cabin with no problem and we paid him cash for the two nights. Now here is when things went south...we had immediately noticed online the room advertised for $60 a night...we had just paid John $180 for 2 nights. So we questioned him...and wow!!! What a Very unprofessional, rude, dishonest shyster! He basically said too bad so sad that's the game the industry plays. We were stunned by his comments and with the noise of the construction on the premises, we decided it wasn't for us to spend our last 2 days. We advised him we would be leaving in the morning but would like our money back for the next night. He initially, after harsh words spoken, agreed to refund our money in the morning if we still chose to leave and let him know in the early morning. To be frank this place needs some love. No chairs to sit outside/inside your cabin, a freezing cold pool, noisy saws and hammering till 10p.m.and awake to that at 7 a.m. with No outside food or drink allowed, its obvious for John its all about the money and not customer service! In the end we were ready to leave at 7a.m. and he was no where to be found. We he did return he avoided us..and then he renagged on the agreement to refund the second night. And told us to get a life!! Unbelievable considering we kept our composure and tried to be respectful even though he was terribly rude and unprofessional. If anything we have learned out of this is read reviews and research as there are alot of false advertising! We spent 16 wonderful days in CR with John being our only problem. He seems to have lost his Canadian values or is tired of the business...writing this from the best western down the street, way more bang for the same price! Wishing we had been here yesterday and not wasted one of the last couple days...

Food: Fantastic. We started with the nachos de Carne which was one of the better plates of nachos I've had. Topped with extremely fresh Pico degallo, delicious beans, steak, and queso. All of perfect proportions.

We added a few empanadas because why not and each was as good as the last. They were huge.

The main dishes were Lomos La Teca, which was a great sirloin with fries and queso, and the Costilla Agridulce La Teca, which was a "sour" pork rib but it wasn't literally sour, it just had a really nice and unique flavor.

We got to watch the cook make the food and it made it that much more special. Great service and great food. Highly recommend.

Hospitality: This place rules. We showed up on a Friday night and had mistakenly booked two weeks ahead of when we needed the room but the guy at the front desk was the man. So nice, so funny, and very understanding of my broken Spanish communication.

Vibe: 10/10. The room was immaculate. Best room we've had in Costa Rica. No clue how it wasn't already booked for the night. We were blessed. The pool is badass. Waterfall, beautiful mural, interesting design. Loved it.

To access it we had to go down a dirt road which we weren't expecting, but at the end of the road was place that was paradise for the...

We stayed with John for a Friday/Sat night weekend trip. He was very quick to respond to our emails full of questions and said that he would come pick us up from the airport for much less then the local companies($20).Since we were only staying for the weekend we wanted to make the most of the trip and John went above and beyond to help us out! We went zip lining at the park up the road from the hotel, and ended up spending the whole next day hiking and exploring. The cabins that John had were just what we were looking for! The Dinners that we had were good. The breakfast that is included in with the room was a perfect way to start our day. The Cabin was clean, and a perfect location. It was about 20 min to the airport, or 20 min to the park/volcano. We would for sure stay here again! We could not have asked for a better host than John, he really made our trip so...

We flew into Liberia and arrived rather late in the evening. The hotel provided us with a ride, a late dinner, and quick check in after a long day of traveling. The room was clean, the pool refreshing, and the staff are absolutely wonderful. Meals were inexpensive and delicious. The hotel also provided us with a ride back to the airport the following day so we could pick up our rental car. The rides to/from the airport were less expensive than shuttle or taxi options. The location is a little off the main road, and requires careful navigation, especially in the dark. However, it a hidden gem that was great for relaxing in after lengthy traveling the day before.

Very nice rustic cabins, but rustic meaning quaint and nice, NOT rustic as a code word for crummy. Quite a charming little surprise. Great shower with hot water and good water pressure, which is always a plus. Comfortable bed, strong fan, and AC to each cabin. Ground are great, especially if you have kids. Feels Only major suggestion would be a room safe, which they may offer, but we did not find one in our cabin. We will definitely come back.
