Stopped here for Arenal and La Fortuna tours. This is another huge property, surrounding areas and grounds are well kept, they are many groups of lodges. I stayed in 600s facing the river, which was less appealing. My room, bathroom and space were adequate. The bed was okay. There is AC which was a plus. Outside has two chairs. In the evenings, cicadas started to chirp. But by 8pm, it was okay. They are few paths to walk, many fruit trees. Lots of colourful birds, of course you can hear the howler monkeys in the distance. The hotel is abt 45-1hr to Arenal and abt 40 min to La Fortuna town. You will past many thermal pools on the way to the town. Breakfast time was the best, they would put fruits outside of the restaurant and the birds would come, quite amazing to get photos. All the meals I had were good, they presented the dishes very nice and tempting. They had very fresh tropical fruit juices and fruits. They had many choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also had menu item, which was okay. If travelling with a tour group, they would reserved tables for each group. Part of my tour package, included a river rafting and tractor ride. The river rafting was amazing and fun adventure and highlight for me. During the river rafting, we stopped for a short break and had delicious snacks at CR homestead. Which was truly a good experience. Shout out to Pedro and his hardworking crew who did all the paddling and manned the rafts, thank you. The tractor ride was a delightful and fun tour, be prepare for a “CR massage”. This tour takes you to the sister property to do a forest tour which was few mins away, and causing honking on the road. While there, you would see lots of cows, lucky to see sabanero in action. Overall my stay was good, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Pedro and his crew were amazing, you will see them...

Reported to reception and a handyman turned up in good time. He proceeded to only talk in Spanish which I cannot speak, which was fine as I didn't want a conversation, just hot water, but he got progressively ruder at my lack of Spanish and almost refused to fix the water saying not cold should be hot enough for you. Eventually he went on the roof the turn on the boiler, while reception eventually offered an alternative room. This all however took up the hour before my night walk, so I was angry, hot and sweaty and didn't even have time to change, let alone shower. On returning from my night walk I had to go check if the water was now hot or if we needed to change rooms, which meant I was the last of our group to dinner by over half an hour. I was given the dregs of the buffet piled on a plate and left on the side, so it was cold and stale, so didn't even bother eating it. Awful staff, no help and ruined my night. But at least the bathroom was newly refurbished and when it did have hot water it was a good...
Read moreWe really enjoyed staying at Tilajari. Originally we didn't love the room we were given as it was dark and felt damp, so we asked to pay for an upgrade and were offered it for free, which was super accommodating. Our new room was perfect with a fantastic view out over the lake and lots of iguanas, which our kids loved. It felt extremely jungly and magical, and the restaurant staff were friendly and polite. Watching the birds on the feeders really added to the breakfast experience!|My main comment if you are booking is consider where you are going to be during the day. We had transfers between areas but no car ourselves, so when we tried to book hot springs trips and volcano etc we were nowhere near the area for pick ups, which we hadn't realised. The hotel doesn't offer a shuttle into La fortuna so we had a lot of extra cost in Ubers. We also tried to book the complimentary frog tour on the hotel property - the first night was cancelled because of rain, the second the guy was off and the third he just didnt turn up, which was so disappointing. |All in all, it's a really lovely place, the food is fantastic and the staff are all...
