It is a three-star hotel - for that it does all right. The location is perfect - right on the beach, but on the quiet end. It's super safe. And very clean. The kitchen staff is absolutely amazing. The cleaning staff is amazing. Everyone local are super friendly and engaging. Even the German manager is great and very friendly (for a German... and I can say that, being born there). ||||The food is good and reasonably priced. The drinks are cold. The service at the bar is absolutely flawless. Rooms are cleaned well every day, fresh towels every day. ||||My issues: ||||The rooms are very tired. Beds are reasonably comfy - but the whole room hasn't seen a dime in upgrades in a long time i reckon... Everything worked. But it ain't pretty||||The AC in my room worked but sounded like a Mack truck. So i turned it off at night. Probably better that way since there are no blankets (just sheets).||||The pool is tiny. Might sound boujie - but most back-yard pools back home are that size. And it was packed||||And prolly my biggest beef: decent wifi by the bar/pool. No wifi in my room. ||||So - overall - i have to say i kinda liked it. Even though i feel i shouldn't have....
Read moreHotel Pochote Grande is great for people looking for silence and an relaxed stay. Specifically during raining season (we have been there in August) the hotel is quite empty and therefore calm and a great place to stay. The Hotel Manager is very helpful, the food in the restaurant delicious, the pool wonderful and the rooms very clean and comfortable. ||Small things to improve ||- Refrigerator in the room as well as safe have to be paid separately (3 Dollar each per day), which is not adequate in my mind||- during vacation season it might be annoying that all rooms are facing the pool, where it will be quite noisy||- Water boiler and cups at the rooms would be nice||- Smoking (as all over Costa Rica) is not allowed in the whole hotel, even on the balcony it is forbidden. A cosy smokers area would please all...
Read moreThis place, for me, without a doubt was the perfect place to stay in Jaco! It was away from the busy center of town and quiet. Town was about a 7 minute walk or about $2 USD in a taxi. I saw all the nice hotels with 10 stories and 4 pools but I did not regret staying here. The staff was so friendly and did their best to make you feel at home. The pillows were a bit flat but If you ask for extras, they have no problem getting you more. The house keepers kept our unit clean every day. The AC unit was great the big windows were perfect to enjoy looking out. 24 hr. security guard walking around every day. Eating at their restaurant is nice. You enjoy the scenery, iguanas and wild birds like Scarlet Macaws and hummingbirds literally feet away! I will definitely stay there...
