Nandel Beach Resort — Hotel in La Cruz

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nandel Beach Resort and I cannot recommend it enough, especially for families looking for a perfect getaway. This resort truly exceeded my expectations in every way.

The first thing that caught my eye was the family-oriented atmosphere. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and welcoming gestures. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every member of our family felt at home. The resort itself is designed with families in mind, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

The beautiful beaches surrounding the resort are simply stunning. Beautiful blue water and abundant marine life make it a perfect spot for relaxation and fun. We enjoyed long walks along the shore, taking in the peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking views, including a beautiful starry night sky. The sheer serenity of the surroundings was truly invigorating.

The kids absolutely loved the pool at Nandel Beach Resort. It was not only well-maintained but also had a variety of activities to keep them entertained. They spent countless hours splashing in the water, making new friends, and having the time of their lives. It was great to see them so happy and engaged in a safe and supervised environment.

One of the highlights of our stay was the food and coffee served at the resort's restaurant. The flavors were exquisite, and the presentation was on par with a fine dining experience. The menu offered a wide range of options to cater to everyone's taste buds. The coffee was a pleasant surprise, and I found myself eagerly sipping on a cup every morning, enjoying the perfect start to my day.

Overall, our experience at Nandel Beach Resort was nothing short of exceptional. My experience at Nandel Beach Resort was a mix of ups and downs. Unfortunately, upon arrival after a long journey (an 8-hour flight followed by a 6-hour drive), I was informed that my confirmed booking had been given to someone else due to an error by the morning staff. Being told to find alternative accommodations at that point was extremely frustrating, especially after such an exhausting trip. As a manager myself, I strongly believe that when mistakes happen on the establishment’s end, the customer deserves an immediate and appropriate resolution.

After raising my concerns with the manager, I’m pleased to say that the team took responsibility and worked to rectify the situation. They eventually accommodated us properly, which I appreciated, but it’s an issue that shouldn’t have occurred in the first place.

That said, the restaurant team truly redeemed the experience. Their kindness, professionalism, and top-tier customer service stood out and made a lasting impression. They really stole the show with their attentiveness and hospitality, and I would recommend dining here even if you’re not staying at the resort.

The nearby beaches are absolutely stunning, and exploring the area was one of the highlights of my trip. If you’re visiting Costa Rica, this region offers some of the most beautiful, tranquil beaches and incredible waves. While Jaco is often popular among tourists, I feel this area represents the true essence of Costa Rica.

In summary, while the initial hiccup was upsetting, the restaurant staff and the beautiful location made up for it in many ways. I hope the management continues to focus on improving their booking process to prevent similar situations in the future.

I'm a kitesurfer, and stayed here to learn how to kitesurf. The location is amazing for this. The pool is nice.

However, everything was exceptional. At one point, a girl sitting next to us left a box of alcohol at the table next to the ping pong table. Suddenly, a staff member named Junior approached us and accused us of bringing in outside items. I was literally just holding a 2L bottle of water that I had purchased from a grocery store hours earlier. When I explained that I completely understand the rule about alcohol but that water should be allowed, he rudely insisted otherwise in a dismissive and condescending tone.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only issue with the service here. Later, during lunch, the same staff member, Junior, publicly embarrassed my friend by yelling across the restaurant to tell us to pay our bill. Apparently, we couldn’t charge it to our room because we didn’t have a credit card on file—but instead of handling this discreetly or professionally, he decided to shout at us in front of everyone. It was completely unprofessional, unnecessary, and humiliating. Any well-trained staff member would have come to our table privately and explained the situation rather than making a scene.

Second - Our toilet clogged, and when we went to the front desk to report it, they did absolutely nothing. No one came to fix it. We had to walk all the way to the pool just to use the restroom—completely unacceptable for a hotel that should provide basic accommodations.

I hope to see dramatic improvement when I return next year.
