Thermomania — Hotel in La Fortuna

I didnt sleep there or see the rooms. Spent the day at the waterpark attached to the hotel. From what I understand a great package of night stay & play all day for under 150$. My only issue was with the big slides. While they were still looking relatively safe...I would caution parents with children under 10 yrs old. Some metal rails were missing on the stairs to the top & could be easy for a small child to fall through & also the guards...if thats what they were...were not able to keep the slides clear. Twice I bumped into a little kids .once at the bottom & the other halfway down. Fortunately for me I caught him & we went down the rest of the way together. The other pools are in need of repair & pieces of cement was falling off

so...that could be an issue if someone steps on it. But the cost of things in CR...well..thats my only real critic. Nice thing was the free cold water in the restaurant...all & all I wish I had known thats where I was going ( was taken with some friends)...if I had I would have spent...

Hoy el dia 19 de Enero de 2025 fui a pasar el día con mi familia, aprovechando el hecho de que mi primo pequeño quería conocer más la zona del Volcán Miravalles. Yo había ido antes, ya hace 10 años, antes de que el Huracán Otto destruyera el lugar. Ya desde ese entonces se notaba un poco de decadencia en ciertos aspectos, pero no estaba tan mal. Desafortunadamente, hoy salí del lugar muy decepcionado, y lo mismo para mi familia. Llegamos pensando que íbamos a pasar una tarde agradable, pero literalmente salimos huyendo. Entramos y lo primero que notamos fue el estado deplorable de las instalaciones y piscinas. Los caminos estaban sucios y tenían desniveles que hacían ver todo en ruinas. Los toboganes grandes que tanto promocionan estaban muy sucios y no contaban con buenas medidas de seguridad. La gente se tiraba seguido y no esperaban a que los que se habían tirado anteriormente y seguían deslizándose por dichos toboganes. A mi primo pequeño lo golpeó un muchacho que no espero a que llegara al final y decidió tirarse a toda velocidad, chocando contra él fuertemente. La gente se queda nadando en los frenos de agua de los toboganes, lo que puede ocasionar un accidente grave, sobre todo con los niños que se quedan ahí sin o con supervisión de sus padres, que en si eran negligentes, ya que ellos mismos los ponían a nadar ahí. Los salvavidas de los toboganes son como unicornios, no existen. Las piscinas estaban exorbitantemente sucias. Hay una piscina justo al lado de los toboganes con temática de dinosaurios que estaba turbia de lo sucia que estaba, agregando el hecho de que estaba totalmente sobre poblada de gente. Por alguna extraña razón, una de las piscinas termales cuenta con un tobogán, y no hay ni una sola advertencia sobre el peligro que conlleva sumergirse en agua caliente por el tema de las amebas “come cerebro”. La limpieza es inexistente, todo se ve sucio y húmedo. Está todo lleno de lana y mo por así decirlo. El restaurante no estaba tan mal, pero es bastante caro para lo que ofrecen. Casi no vi empleados ni colaboradores en todo el complejo. En si, salímos decepcionados. Es una lástima, ya que la ubicación no está para nada mal(just al lado del volcán Miravalles). En conclusión, no recomiendo visitar este lugar. Y las excusas del levantamiento post huracán no son válidas por la gran cantidad de tiempo que han tenido para realizar mantenimiento(que se supone hubo uno...

Honestly, this was very disappointing. We came during the week, so perhaps it's different during the weekend but the place looked awful. The whole park was empty, half of the pools were closed, waterslides were dry, there was a lot of leaves and other debris floating in the pools, water looked dirty and the general impression was really bad. The whole place looked like it was in desperate need of restoration and upkeep. We drove from Playa Conchal and literally left after taking a 10 min walk through the pool area. Not one pool looked like I'd want to step into it. Photos look misleading and if you're thinking of visiting, lower your expectations to the bare minimum. Sorry Thermomania, we wanted...
