Hotel San Rafael Ecolodge — Hotel in La Tigra

My favorite place and people! Giovanni, Luis, Maria, and Karin were truly amazing. They are the most friendly people and really make you feel like part of the family.

You fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of nature, it's really a rain forest experience in a top-tier villa. The breakfast, which is tailored to your liking, was so delicious every day and the pool was very refreshing if the weather got super hot. The fresh juices and fruits were perfect, every day. Every guest we met were so friendly and felt comfortable because everyone is relaxed and I'm assuming feel at home as much as I did.

On the property, I saw iguanas, toucans, parrots, frogs, hummingbirds, and many other cool species of birds and animals. Even if you don't have a day of adventure planned at one of the many things to see in the area, there are hammocks throughout the hotel and comfortable couches to just chill and relax to get away from your busy life.

You are only about 35 min drive from all the attractions that La Fortuna and Arenal can offer. For this hotel, you don't need 4x4 vehicle, so it's perfect to take a budget car. It was an easy drive to all the attractions we wanted to visit. Giovanni can get better discounts for all the attractions we wanted to and it was great to save a bit of cash. Also, if you don't have a 4x4 vehicle and want to visit places that require one, Giovanni may be able to take you there and pick you up if you plan a few days in advance.

For amenities, the wifi was strong on the entire property, from your villa, ti the pool, to the yoga area. Food was amazing. Villas were so clean and well maintained. Shower had hot water. Everything was perfect for us!

This is the highest recommended place to stay for a real reason and I can't wait to visit them again!

If you want to have an unforgettable experience in Costa Rica - Hotel San Rafael Ecologe is your best choice. We spent the best holiday ever in this wonderful literally paradise. It's the most beautiful place on earth. The hotel itself is super clean and cosy. The rooms are so comfortable with huge windows into the rainforest. We saw a lot of frogs, lizards, birds, bats, iguanas and other wildlife just in the area of the hotel. The garden is absolutely amazing with a nice pool. My favourite place was the area with the hammocks, where I spent a lot of time designing my project enjoying a delicious cup of coffee. But what makes this place so special is the owner of the hotel Giovanni and the manager Luis. They went an extra mile to make our stay feel like we were with our best friends. We didn't want to go anywhere else for sightseeing and spent so many days only in the garden of the hotel, where you can relax in the hammock, swim in the pool, do yoga in a peaceful place behind the cottages, play some games, listen to the birds singing. Giovanni and Luis taught us how to cook delicious Costa Rican dishes and we spent very nice time in the evenings talking about so many things. The lovely dog Gucci and the cute cat Mini made our stay even more pleasant. I wish I could give 100 stars. Giovanni and Luis THANK YOU SO MUCH! This was the perfect place to stay for our first night in Costa Rica and we wish we would have stayed longer! Owner Giovanni and manager Luis were extremely welcoming and hospitable. They gave us excellent information and made delicious food for us, even providing an excellent complimentary breakfast free of charge. During the rest of our stay in Costa Rica we didn't encounter such amazing customer service.

As for the facilities, we loved that our bungalow was perched on a hill directly above e a rainforest valley. It was remarkable to be able to open our window curtains and observe the rainforest canopy, with monkeys and exotic birds. The bird calls changed every couple of hours, reflecting the rich biodiversity of the area. We were also impressed by the beautiful gardens that Giovanni maintains within his mini resort. The facility also has a nice pool and outdoor living spaces that have a roof but no walls so you can observe the nature. I'll definitely come back to this spot and send...
