First, sorry because this is going to be a long post. I have fallen in love with the most adorable, quaint and rustic hotel. Las Espuelas Hotel in Liberia. I’m a sucker for a throwback, style which reminds me of the good old days. This hotel is lovely. It has clean, spacious rooms and the hotel is extremely clean. The pool is quite large with a handicap ramp directly into the pool and an adjacent kiddie pool and playground. If you love nature this is your hotel, check out the animals. It’s close enough to Liberia center but far enough to have peace and tranquillity Plus the history of the establishment, the late Ezio Parapini founded this hotel and left it to his daughter. The staff are friendly and helpful. And the pictures don’t lie. I took them with my cellphone, see for yourself. Also breakfast included, a buffet of fresh local fruits, bread, cereal, beverages and/or a Costa Rican tradition breakfast. Keep in mind this is a rustic hotel, when you want to get away. They have made some updates, but not enough to take away from its charm. This will be my go to hotel whenever I’m...
Read moreLike many years ago, I stayed at the hotel las espuelas. But I feel very very disappointed, since they charged me an excessively high rate, for a hotel that I think is already 50 or more years old and has never undergone any renovation. The hotel does not have a minibar, the hot water comes at a great cost, the vending machine at the front desk only has beer and one type of oral serum. The breakfast seems to be measured to the millimeter (I miss when the owner of this hotel was the BestWetern hotel chain that the breakfast was buffet style) There is not a single ice machine, there are no safety deposit boxes in the rooms. The only thing I would give a positive score to is the Wifi signal which is stable. The hotel is not in the center of the city, which makes it difficult to move around if you don't have a car. Finally the lighting in the pool area is terrible! without taking into account the deterioration of lamps and various things in the hotel. I do not recommend it in...
Read moreI picked this hotel because it was good value in Liberia with a pool. Hilton was 3 x the price and would not have been worth it. I needed to come to Liberia to fix a dead phone from the jungle humidity. It ended up being a great visit and I fitted in La Leona waterfalls and the Indian Masala in town and found out Uber was working. The staff at this hotel were very accommodating at check in when there was a problem with my booking. And at the end of the day the real judge of a place is how they deal with a problem, not when everything runs smoothly. Room was clean and comfy with good aircon and a ceiling fan. Nice big shower and hot water. Pool was excellent, big enough to swim some lengths and I had it to myself. One more thing to note is the food in the restaurant in the evening was pretty good too. Would thoroughly recommend, and would 100% stay here again of I came to...
