We as a couple been traveling to CR for many times, found this treasure by accident.|We arrived in the afternoon and got a real friendly welcome, after receiving the key to our bungalow, we were suprised how clean and inviting this place was, there was a small kitchen so you could, if wanted, cook yourself a meal, wich we did not for the reason that we are not cooking on a holliday:-) Because of the start of the rainy season we had the privilige to be the only guests here wich made our stay a real joy, breakfast was served at the small but nice terras with a magnificant view of the valley, it was served with pleasure and love for detail, juice and coffee, a smal flower on the sliced fruit, bacon and eggs on the first day, Gallo pinto the second, a very nice omelet filled with veggies and cheese on the third day and at the last morning we got fried eggs and toast, marmelade and of course a fruitplatter.|We had a great pool at our disposal, a treat in the jungle just for us, the weather was great, sunny in the morning, cloudy and some rain in the afternoon, but this was a blessing, for us and the lush garden. Tanya and Kevin are people who love their place and realy make you feel welcome, thank you for that, we would recommend this place to anyone without any doubt, a bit secluded but it makes this treasure a hidden gem, good for a first and last night, or maybe even longer as we did, keep up the good work, we be back for sure if visiting...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed in a comfortable, well furnished, two bedroom villa for six weeks in Feb.-Mar. 2016. All necessary cooking and dining items are provided in a kitchen with stove, refrigerator and microwave oven. Shower has plenty of hot water. There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms and living room. Because of the climate and frequent breeze, air conditioning is not needed. The private balcony had a beautiful view over looking a farming valley filled with cows, goats, coffee, and fruit trees, and a mountain on the other side covered with scattered homes and farms. There is a large pool with deck chairs and bathrooms on site. There is a comfortable outdoor (with roof) common area where an optional breakfast is served and guests can lounge in comfortable chairs and read, play games, or just converse. The town of Atenas is about a 15 minute drive, a six dollar taxi ride or a $.50 bus trip. Tannia Suarez owns and manages the property, speaks fluent English and is a tremendously helpful resource for everything from local history, arranging tours, calling a cab, or just about anything that requires a phone and a Spanish speaker. To top it all off, I found the Villas to be an...
Read moreI enjoyed my brief stay here at the Villas de la Colina. Each accomodation was basically a tiny little "villa" or cabin. The views were incredible and the environment was just lovely. The room was comfortable and had everything you could need including a small kitchen, a private bath, television, WIFI and of course a lovely hammock on your private porch. The room had a ceiling fan and when the windows were open the breeze was very comfortable. I even had to shut the windows during the night as the breeze was cool! ||||I enjoyed the variety of wildlife including lots of birds. I believe I saw a few monkeys, but I did not get a good look because it was dusk. The sunsets were great from this point of view. ||||I would call the location "eclectic" and "quanint." It is not upscale, but if you are looking for a basic location that gives you a good experience I believe you will enjoy your stay. When I stayed there was basically no person there, not even staff, so I felt like I had the place to myself! There is...
