We spent a wonderful weekend in the guest house. The hospitality of Florence and Michel was what made this place so very special. They are wonderful hosts and very accommodating. They made us feel welcome, and they kept our little one year old happily entertained all weekend with toys they had on hand.||The room was spacious and clean, and it is nicely decorated. It was well stocked with games and books. The shutters kept out the morning light well. This part of the country tends to be very humid, so the sheets feel a little damp when you climb into bed, but the bed was comfortable and warm. Sometimes I read criticism that has nothing to do with the hotel and is just how things are in a part of the world, so I thought I’d mention the dampness as a characteristic of many parts of Costa Rica.||The birds and the butterflies kept us company for our delicious breakfast that included homemade jams and marmalade and organic coffee. The coffee is made from beans from their own farm and a few other growers in the area. I highly recommend you get your hands on a bag (or 2 or more) to take home with you. It makes an excellent souvenir! Ask Florence where you can buy it.||Michel showed us part of their immense farm, and we walked around his “garden” for quite a while. It was a very peaceful place, and we felt regeneration and rested by the time we left. We hope to go again soon!||Merci beaucoup,...
Read moreWow! What an amazing place and an amazing experience!! The super cute decks are all open with fantastic views over the mountains and the Turrialba volcano. No electricity, no wifi; and this is what makes it so special! Power sockets and wifi are available at the nearby cafe/restaurant located on the propriety. We found the deck very comfortable for our family of 4. Our deck had a double bed downstairs and two single beds in the mezzanine. Each bed had a mosquito net and a warm comforter. We also had extra blankets and candles. ||A good breakfast is available at the cafe. The funky and colorful restaurant next to it is owned by a wonderful artist from Venezuela, and serves great food for lunch and dinner (yummy Venezuelan food!).||There are trails available on the propriety and the Hacienda offers many tours. We did the horseback riding tour among the sugar canes and coffee plantation. A beautiful ride!||We loved the experience. We stayed for one night and wished we...
Read moreWe stayed at Finca Monte Claro with friends and our 3 small children. The home Cristian rented us was beautiful! Historic and with furnishings from France we felt at home immediately and the central location made horseback riding and rafting very accessible from the home base. Cristian gave us a coffee tour, a farm tour and took us horseback riding, all while making us a lovely breakfast each morning. He is kind, funny and motivated to make your stay a positive experience! Take advantage of his local expertise for a delicious home cooked dining experience close to the home and make sure to buy organic coffee from their coffee cooperative. In all, we loved our stay at Finca Monte Claro!||||Currently the home is in the process of renovations and some mold in the upper bedroom and bathroom should be fixed for future guests. Strongly recommend this location for couples...
