This lodge is in a beautiful remote location. The drive there through the rolling hills and pineapple fields is already lovely. The road is fully paved, although it can be damaged at some spots. The village itself is small, but has 1 soda, 2 minimarkets and a bar. The lodge itself has nice common areas, it could however be improved upon with some extra hammocks. ;) Having the pool for a refreshing dip is also great. The rooms are simply furnished, clean, have aircon. Great for a few nights. Only thing missing would be warm water for showers. The family running this place is super kind, friendly and helpful. Alan and dad are excellent hosts. Mom is an excellent cook, making mostly real tasty classical Tico dishes. Portions are generous, with soup as an appetizer and fresh juice. For breakfast you have a few options, the pancakes are really delicious. Allan is also a great guide, who likes birds and really knows a lot about them, but also other animals and plants in the area. We recommend the boat tour. It's a relaxing way to see the area and we spotted plenty of wildlife on the banks and in the tree. The jungle hike with Allan (we left at 6am, but this can be flexible based on your wishes) is also to be recommended. It was a great place to start our Costa Rica adventure, just hang out, relax and watch the birds arriving at the feeders, to get into the...

Read moreWe stayed at Iguanitas Lodge for two nights and enjoyed every minute. The rooms are clean and spacious, sufficient parking space is available and the couple running the hotel is very nice and helpful (They don't speak English, so you should know basic Spanish words). We also booked a day trip by boat on the Rio San Carlo to the village Boca San Carlo with a walking tour through wonderful rainforest in the afternoon. We had dinner at the hotel as well which was really delicious.||The highlight is the hut where you have breakfast (and dinner) accompanied with hummingbirds, woodpeckers, akaris and parrots.||Thanks for the two nights, I highly...
