We originally booked 5 nights at Maze Lodge in March 2025, but unfortunately only stayed one night.
The room was great, the AC worked well and the bed was really comfortable.
The owners are really kind and welcoming, they are ready to help for anything you might need.
When we stayed, the pool was almost ready to use.
The only reason we didn't stay was because of the road to get to the lodge. We rented a 4x4 Toyota RAV4, but the state of the road when we where there was better suited for a vehicul that is a bit higher on wheels, or an ATV (wich Alexander kindly offered us to use).
The last 20 minutes to get to the lodge is on unpaved road. We found it really difficult and where greateful that we didn't have to do it during night time.
When we got to the lodge for the first time, we had to got back to town to get groceries, as there are no restaurant close to the lodge (I understand it is possible to have food delivered if needed). When we got back the second time to the lodge, the muffler of the car got out of its place and was hanging out. We were able to put it back.
Since we wanted to do many activities in town for our stay and we're planning of doing many back and forth, we chose to stay closer to town.
A few days later we also realized that the front bumper of the car got bumps, most probably because of the road.
I understand that they were waiting on material to be able to fix the road, I think once it will be done it will be...
Read moreMaze Lodge manages to achieve a very authentic, secluded feel whilst also providing all the comforts needed to make a jungle stay more enjoyable (very good AC, running water, wifi, electricity). Alex and Frida were extremely welcoming and were always on hand to assist and even helped with some wildlife spotting - it genuinely felt more like staying in someone’s guest house than a hotel. Despite being relatively close to Puerto Jimenez, it does feel as if you are staying in the middle of the jungle, being awoken by howler monkeys and seeing toucans directly off the balcony. Their recommended Corcovado guide Louis was fantastic and I would recommend booking tours through Maze Lodge. There is a big supermarket in Puerto Jimenez where you can stock up supplies as the Lodge offers excellent cooking options - including a grill on the very scenic deck. I’m excited to see how the pool...
