Hotel Valle Verde — Hotel in Santa María

I spent 5 nights at Valley Verde while in town for work around coffee. The hotel is right in the center of the little town, a 2 minute walk from the grocery store, MUSOC bus station, and Coopedota coffee mill and excellent coffee shop!||||The rooms were clean, had the hottest water I've had in Costa Rica, and all have TVs.||||The restaurant downstairs was delicious (best chicken soup with a Latin twist!) and reasonably priced. The couple who owns the hotel also runs tours up to their mountain finca, which has great trails and stunning views, plus a really pretty well kept 'rustic' cabin for groups. ||||Make sure you let them know what time you're arriving because the reception isn't 24hours.||||If traveling by MUSOC bus from San Jose, buy your ticket in advance; they do fill up. Great, great breakfast! Seriously, it was amazing. Homemade food brought to you by a woman in town that owns one of the sodas. This place has a great location and you can walk to anything you want or need, including the Coopedota coffee co-op. The room worked in every capacity and everything at this hotel is pretty good except for the barking dogs that howl throughout the entire night. I only stayed 1 night so I can't say if this is a common occurrence due to some lousy neighbors or if it was a freak accident. Just maybe have a backup plan in case of the dogs. Or...

Two weeks in a row we stayed with two different groups in this great little hotel. The rooms are clean, the water is hot, breakfast was awesome and the hotel is secure. It is conveniently located in the center of Santa Maria de Dota. Walking distance to one the best coffee shops in the world!||||Located in the hotel is a beauty salon for hair, nails and spa. They also have the best cevichria (seafood restaurant) in Dota!
