My wife and I decided to stay in the Lake Arenal area for an extra night and were looking for a place with one night on short notice. Mystica was available, and we booked it without looking into it that much. When we got up the property, we were realized how fortunate we were to visit. Exploring the grounds is incredible - from the open, riverside yoga studio, to the pool, to the treehouse, you'll be impressed by both the natural beauty and aesthetic charm of Mystica.
Room and bed were great, don't want to forget to mention those foundational aspects of a place like this. Clean, comfortable, private - great stuff.
The food - my goodness. This place is family-owned, and the owners have spent significant time in Italy. The food available at dinner reflects those two things - the homemade pasta, specifically the ravioli, was incredible. The buffet at breakfast was the best breakfast I had in the week we were in-country. Both meals we had felt like they were homecooked by a friend's Auntie.
We were lucky enough to stay while the massage therapist was onsite. We both booked a 1-hr session with her, and this was the best massage either of us has had in our lives. Better than a quite expensive massage at Palazzo in Las Vegas. My session was during an seasonally unexpected thunderstorm, in a treehouse, on top of a mountain overlooking Lake Arenal. Highly recommend booking a massage if the therapist is onsite during your stay.
Staff on property was incredibly helpful and friendly. Alice at the front desk took great care of us. I'm so happy that we were able to spend a night at this cool, beautiful lodge and would recommend Mystica to anyone - especially anyone who has interest in yoga, spirituality, or just digs the Grateful Dead. Thank you for a wonderful...
Read moreMystica Resort is pure magic. From the moment you arrive, you’re surrounded by breathtaking views of the volcano, the sound of howler monkeys, and the sight of incredible birds and iguanas. The whole property feels like a botanical garden with an energy vortex running through it — peaceful, vibrant, and alive.
The amenities are beyond special: a yoga platform over rushing water, a serene massage room and treehouse treatment space, a sauna, and a natural rock pool with its own waterfall. There’s plenty of room to roam and explore, and every corner of the resort feels thoughtfully designed.
The food is absolutely top notch, and the waitstaff were incredible — attentive, kind, and joyful, making every meal an experience. Our room was clean, comfortable, and cozy, with the surrounding beauty adding to the sense of retreat.
Mystica doesn’t just impress — it wows. Highly recommend for anyone seeking nature, wellness, and a truly...
Read moreWe love everything about this magical place. It was also the cleanest and loveliest room we had in our entire 2 week stay in Costa Rica.
The food was fantastic and the staff so so nice. The grounds were nothing short of amazing. I fell in love with the natural pool and spent a lot of time there. We also opted to use the sauna which was located next to the pool so we could just jump right into the cooling water after a session.
I missed a bit of info upon arrival. For example, we didn’t know when mealtimes were or when the restaurant opened, so we were either too early or too late, but this didn’t take away from our overall experience.
Our little girl LOVED exploring the area around our room, picking up fallen leaves and flowers. We shared a terrace with another room, but it didn’t not feel private, and the view is just amazing.
If we’re ever back in Costa Rica, this would be one of our...
