The first time my fiancée and I travelled to the Osa Peninsula, we stopped at El Mirador Osa. We were impressed by the beauty of the facility, the gardens, and the views of the mountains and the Gulfo Dulce. Since then, we've made 2 other trips to the Osa Peninsula and each time we stop at El Mirador Osa on the way in and on the way out. ||||On our second trip out of the Osa, we stayed in one of the cabins at Mirador Osa before we had to fly out the next afternoon. The cabins were clean, quaint, and peaceful. The owners and employees were very friendly and made sure we felt comfortable. Also, the food was very good. We had typical Costa Rican cuisine. ||||The third time we came, my fiancée and I brought our parents. On the way into the peninsula, we stopped at Mirador Osa and were treated to a show of Toucans in the trees. There had to be over 20 of them flying in and out of the trees. In my 2 previous trips to Costa Rica I had only seen 2 toucans and here they were in large groups! Seriously, I've spent several months in Costa Rica and travelled all over the country. This has to be one of the best places to see toucans. On the way out of the peninsula this last time, we stopped again for lunch. Once again, we saw a large group of toucans. Some were chestnut-mandibled and others were fiery-billed aracaris. The toucans, along with the stunning vista behind them, allowed for some fantastic photo opportunities. In addition, the waitress who was serving us was excellent! She took pictures for us and even treated us to a dessert. Our parents were impressed and we were happy to be able to share this special...
Read moreWe have stopped at this little eco-friendly establishment a year ago for a cool beverage on our way to Agua Dulce Resort on the Osa Peninsula but decided this time to see if they had accomodations. We found there were 2 cabins available and decided to check them out. Great little cabins with a private bath and A/C. Bed was a little firm but better than being to soft! We had a great meal that evening and we were treated to about 20 Toucans flying all around us and landing in the trees really close to where we were sitting out on our deck. By the way, the decks also have a hammock strung across it. The little swimming pool was way to warm to cool off in but at least it was wet. The floral and fauna around the grounds was well manicured and picture perfect. The staff was extremely helpful, pleasant, and a few spoke English quite well!! One of the staff even took us on a walk up to a vantage point to be able to see a fantastic sunset. I would highly recommend this great little hidden gem!!! Probably the only draw back would be if you have any trouble climbing up and going down a walk way and pavers without a hand railing this could be a...
Read moreThe views from this place are AMAZING, but that's about it. The breakfast was simple and good and they make great coffee. The food otherwise was ok . I ordered a chicken and rice dish that was very greasy, but it tasted alright. We spent 1 night here in Cabin 1 which was right next to the dining area. It seemed very old and not very clean. There was satellite tv in the "living" room area and a small double bed in the bedroom with sheets that barely fit and AC which worked well. The bathroom was looking pretty rundown along with most of the cabin. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. There area around is beautiful and there is a hiking path you can take to somewhere..||I got a fairly low rate and found it somewhat acceptable, but the regular rate they charge is not worth it in my opinion. We just wanted a place to stay on the drive to drake bay. The pool looked cloudy and I didn't want to take a chance to swim in it. We were actually supposed to stay another time, but due to bad weather and past experience we just forfeited the booking and went somewhere else...
