We wanted to visit this area to be able to raft the Rio Pacuare. Wow! This place is exactly what we hoped for & more. The lodge we stayed in, Tucan, was super cute and clean for our family of 5. We knew based on the pictures that it would be a tight fit and we would share one bathroom, but that was fine with us. Breakfast was included and was absolutely delicious! Dinner was also great, as were the drinks. Armando, Marjorie, and Ricardo were fabulous! They drove us down to the point where we would meet the bus to go to Rafting and picked us up. Ricardo even took us on a hike! They do not speak much English, and we do not speak much Spanish, but it did not matter. Our three daughters loved everyone who work there and fell in love with the swings that overlook the mountains and river. This place is a treasure, & I’ll always be grateful for...

Our family of 5 (3 teen girls) began our Costa Rican adventure here, & it was amazing! It took almost 3 hours to get there from the San Jose airport, but the drive was not bad. There are several dirt roads leading to the property.||We could not have imagined a better place to stay. This rustic lodge had everything we wanted & more for an authentic experience, & Marjorie, Armondo, & Ricardo were awesome. Marjoried booked our room & rafting trip via WhatsApp.||Getting to the rafting was easy (van picked us up from the lodge entrance).||We stayed in the Tucan room (full bed & two bunks, & it fit us well (obviously a tight squeeze for 3 teen girls, but it worked). There was no hair dryer, & the water pressure was very low... but it was not a big deal.||Loved, loved, loved...

Most charming lodge I’ve ever been at. A perfect stop to make between the Pacific coast and the Carribean one, or between San Jose and Limon/Puerto Viejo. The view is out of this world beautiful, the location is completely off-the-grid, the team is just wonderful, the breakfast is so so good, and fresh. The chicken empanadas is the best one I ever had. The garden has so many types of flowers/trees, etc. Our dog got to run freely and enjoy the beautiful grounds. I have nothing bad to say about this place. The only thing I am not satisfied with, is that we only stayed for a short stay! We will want to come back to enjoy the grounds a little bit more because this place is truly heavenly and we fell in love with it.

The location is fantastic. It feels both secluded and connected. Terrific views of the surrounding mountains. Be sure to download the Merlin app for help id-ing all the birdsong. Cabins are separated for a lovely sense of intimacy. Ours had a balcony with a jacuzzi tub overlooking the hillside. The amenities are a little rustic: the sink was small, electric outlets few and funky. Wi-fi was great though. The restaurant doesn't have a lot of choices but enough to cover the bases, and also capitalizes on the view, so who cares. The staff was really wonderful. Tim, the new owner, was eager to share all the info he had, including his plans for updates and improvements. Would definitely love to go back to see what he did!

Staying here was the most wonderful travel experience I’ve ever had! What an absolute gem. My four-year-old son and I stayed for a week and loved every minute. We will definitely be back to stay again soon. Cabin: The cabin was adorable, comfortable, and clean. Just perfect for us. Hotel staff: Everyone at the hotel was incredibly kind and helpful! Antonio took us on excursions which greatly enhanced our experience. They treated us like family and my son absolutely fell in love with everyone. Food: The restaurant was open all day, so we frequently enjoyed snacks and drinks between meals. The menu had a huge variety (including options for kids) and everything we had was so fresh and delicious! Property: I can’t begin to explain how beautiful the views and property were. Birds and butterflies everywhere. Stunning biodiversity. What a breathtaking place! Impresionante biodiversidad. ¡Qué lugar tan impresionante!
