The only redeeming quality about this establishment is the natural hot springs. But for the price you can do a lot better in other parts of Costa Rica
$90 a night for a non-insulated room with one light bulb and a single floor fan for a room which sleeps five is just another way to say they don’t care about their guests.
No hot water in the showers. When it’s below 70F and it’s raining, you’re going to want this.
Toilet with broken seat where the store the mop and broom. Not impressed.
Coffee and hot chocolate from the kitchen is worse than IHOP. Disappointed in a country known for both.
Nearly impossible to find, even with Google Maps. Small signs that you have to hunt for.
No internet connectivity and very limited cell service, so challenging to find it.
No guidelights or street lights on the premise. Easy to fall and trio and get hurt.
Ground not paved and is just loose gravel.
Hard beds, no bedsheet between the comforter and bed. Unsure how they keep it clean.
They graciously give one towel a person. What about for when you need to go to the hot spring bath? Do you get another towel? Maybe, if you go all the way up to reception and ask. No phone in room.
Reception doesn’t speak English.
Not impressed at all. Won’t be returning. Won’t recommend. Save your time and money and go...
Read moreWhat can I say about this place? Do you like to be waken up by the sound of howler monkeys in the rainforest? Do you want to be alone in a thermal water pool at 5:00 AM, listening to the sounds of the jungle and the river while toucans and hummingbirds fly above your head? Do you want to experience true Costa Rican hospitality with some of the nicest and helpful people you will ever meet? Do you like tasty food of epic portion size that you will struggle finishing at a decent price? Do you want to have a short but amazing morning jungle trek just outside your cabin? If the answer to all of those is yes, then Recreo Verde is for you.
If you are looking for something fancy and a resort experience this is not it, but if you are looking to get away from it all and truly feel immersed in nature, this is unmissable. The whole area is a gem that's still not as popular as other places so hurry up and go before it becomes another La Fortuna. I left Recreo Verde today after 3 days and I feel like it probably ruined the rest of my Costa Rica trip as I don't think the rest of the places will compare. It will always have a special place in my heart and my memory for as long as I will be able to keep my memories. Thank you to all the staff and people I met there. Keep up...
