We spent one night at the hotel as we were on our way home from the coast.
The name of the hotel is misleading and unfortunately has little to do with the standard of the hotel. Check-in was very good and the hotel rooms are spacious, clean and equipped with comfortable beds.
The hotel certainly offers good facilities for business guests, but it also advertises itself as a wellness hotel, which is why we chose this one. When we arrived at the wellness area, the employee explained to us that only the indoor pool and gym were included. For the remaining areas we would have to pay an additional charge of €15. This is not stated on the website or during the booking process (own website nor Expedia) and is therefore an absolute disgrace! The indoor pool is not particularly large, the temperature is not very warm and there are not several pools, but separate areas that all have the same (cold) water.
We actually planned to eat in the bar instead of staying in the uncomfortable pool area. However, the service staff was very unfriendly and the bar was also very uncomfortable. We then decided to eat outside the hotel and didn't regret it.
The breakfast room is like a hall and correspondingly uncomfortable. The employees are very slow, so many tables are covered with dirty dishes. The buffet is very large and varied, but the quality of the food is below average. The “juices” are syrup mixed with water and the coffee tastes like it comes straight from a bag. The lukewarm and dry pancakes were also not convincing, nor were the watery scrambled eggs. All the dishes were very unappetizingly presented.
When we checked out, the employee wanted to tell us that there was a note about the additional costs for the wellness area, but then she couldn't find it herself (except in the small print on booking) and finally admitted the mistake.
All in all, this hotel unfortunately has nothing to do with a grand hotel. Apart from the cozy and spacious rooms, unfortunately we can't find anything here that would...
Read moreDuring my stay at Grand Hotel Zagreb, I was truly impressed by the level of luxury, comfort, and service this 4-star hotel offers. As a seasoned world traveler, I have stayed in many hotels across the globe, and this one stands out—not only for its beautifully designed rooms and exceptionally comfortable beds but also for its outstanding customer service.
In Croatia, friendly customer service is not always a given, but the staff at Grand Hotel Zagreb exceeded all expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed, and throughout my stay, the team was consistently attentive, professional, and genuinely hospitable. Every request was met with a smile, and the staff truly went above and beyond to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience.
The highlight of my stay, however, was the breakfast—quite simply, the best I have ever encountered in a hotel. The variety, quality, and presentation were outstanding, with fresh pastries, artisanal cheeses, high-quality cold cuts, fresh fruits, milks for individuals with allergies, and an array of international dishes. It was an experience in itself and a perfect way to start the day.
Overall, Grand Hotel Zagreb delivers on every front—elegance, comfort, and world-class hospitality. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, this hotel offers a truly luxurious experience with exceptional service that makes it stand out in Croatia. Highly...
Read moreReally nice hotel.
Staff very welcoming, perfect English and accommodating. Check in was also fast and efficient. I asked for and Iron and had one delivered to my room in less than 5 minutes.
Rooms and corridors are all very large and spacious. Meaning a comfortable stay and no noise from people walking past or closing doors. Bed was also really comfortable and the room had everything needed.
Breakfast was superb. Lots of choices both healthy and not so healthy. Everything was cooked well and warm. Coffee and juice machines allow you to get what you need quickly.
The gym was pretty good. Sufficient for a hotel. Could do with a water supply in there and I'd have liked some more functional accessories for my workout.
The spa and spa team all very nice. I'd recommend the saunas. An extra 15Euro but well worth it.
Lastly location. There is a shopping mall only a 3 minute walk away. Here you can find plenty if shops and some leisure attractions such as a cinema. Not many restaurants though. Therefore, if you wanted to see Croatia then you need a 10 minute taxi. If you are in business and staying locally then it's excellent. If you are looking for evening entertainment the be prepared to travel into Zagreb.. However, for the cost of a short taxi, I'd prefer to stay here than in...
